I don't know where people are getting there "facts" from.
Reputable estimates based on phosphor half-lifes of 50,000 hours is up to about 27 YEARS, depending on how much TV you watch every day.
This is as long or longer than a typical tube (CRT) television.
If it was as short as people here claim, I would not have purchased my plasma TV. People really should learn to educate themselves rather than regurgitating hear-say.

The typical life span for the average Plasma Tv is approximately 7-8 years, maximum.

Yea The plasma wears out and the color starts to fade. they last 51/2 years about. a regular tv will last at learst 2 x that.

If 7 years of constant use is a "short" life span. Maybe the picture quality is worth it to you; me, I have a 52" projection TV and it serves me fine.

They can last just don't put them above a fire place or right against the wall these thing will cause the plasma to evaporate. Make sure it can ventilate.

They last 7-8 years if they dont get good ventilation, but really in 8 years they will be so old anyway you will lready want to get a new tv
