This is no answer...but interesting fact...kamikazes were treated like royalty once they became pilots. They were given a purple sash to wear and they were given anything they wanted. Any woman was theirs, they paid for nothing, they were bowed down to. After the war, those who were left alive and recognized were scorned. Treated like vermin. No one would have anything to do with them. Kind of like getting kicked off of the varsity football team huh?

So turbulence and vibration don't knock them out enroute to the target.
Did you know there were kamikaze trainer planes? Talk about a strange job!

well, they wore them for a couple of reasons
the main reason was mentioned above, as a protection from getting knocked unconscious by the head striking the canopy or cockpit sides if turbulence would have been encountered in route. you have to be conscious to ensure getting the plane to the target.
the second is environmental. it got awful cold up there. you get the brain too cold, and it doesn't think straight.
another reason is military appearance. it was a part of the flight uniform. they wore it in deference to military decorum.

They wore a leather cap, similar to american aviators. It contained a radio headset and hooks for the oxygen system. It wouldn't do for them to pass out on the way to the target!
