It is true that you can train a cat to use and flush a toilet, but you must have a lot of time and patience.
There are toilet training kits that you can purchase for this purpose.
There are some great links below, including some links for toilet training kits.

Yes...my cousin trained her cat to use the toilet instead of a litter box. I don't know if the cat flushes, though, and since it's a male cat it never puts the seat back down.

yes they can, you can buy this thing to put in the toilet that hold the litter box. Then the cat will get used to going up there. THen you remove the litter box and the cat will just go in the toilet, but you have to praise him or her every time you can for going in there so he keeps doing it. They cant flush but them using the toilet and not having to clean a litter box is awesome. So flush it your damn self.

Yes, they can be trained to do that, but why bother? Clumping litter is VERY easy to clean. Clean the litterbox once a day. Takes two-three minutes. Far less trouble than training the cat. Oh and they will go in the toilet, but you still have to flush for them.

Cats can be trained to use the toilet. My cat doesn't use the toilet to go to the bathroom, but she does drink out of it.

Yes, you can teach a cat to use the toilet. I had a friend who's cat was trained. Remember, they can't flush.

I once heard of a lady who trained her three cats to use the toilet, so it must be true. I wonder how they keep from falling in though...

YES THEY ACTUALLY SELL A LITTER BOX THAT SITS ON THE TOILET SEAT THAT CATS USE, TO TRAIN TO USE THE TOILET. AFTER THEY LEARN, YOU TAKE AWAY THE LITTER BOX AND THE CAT USES THE TOILET.
