I haven't been there myself, but I have heard of a company called Newport Furnishings. They are more of a warehouse, but supposedly have great deals. I don't know where you are located but they are on the web. Good luck.

I find pictures of things that I want then I show my husband (a carpenter/contractor) together we figure out how to make it. I'm crafty and can sew and have a knack for colors and design.
You can shop at Thrift stores buy cheap furniture and turn it into something just like you would see in a high end decorated room! Only you will know the difference!

You're talking a protracted process over time that requires patience, garage sales, second hand furniture stores for stuff that's really nice. Read a few articles on it using furniture as a search lead on the net.

Try flea markets, and garage sales. Sometimes people bring in nice furniture and sell it when they buy new or have to move.
