I haven't been there myself, but I have heard of a company called Newport Furnishings. They are more of a warehouse, but supposedly have great deals. I don't know where you are located but they are on the web. Good luck.

I find pictures of things that I want then I show my husband (a carpenter/contractor) together we figure out how to make it. I'm crafty and can sew and have a knack for colors and design.

You can shop at Thrift stores buy cheap furniture and turn it into something just like you would see in a high end decorated room! Only you will know the difference!

You're talking a protracted process over time that requires patience, garage sales, second hand furniture stores for stuff that's really nice. Read a few articles on it using furniture as a search lead on the net.

Try flea markets, and garage sales. Sometimes people bring in nice furniture and sell it when they buy new or have to move.

Try GardenRidge or Tuesday Morning if there's one in your area.
