While there are no gimmie putts, there are a few gimmes in golf.

Three that come to my mind are:

1.Gimme another beer.
2.Gimmie quiet (from the volunteer at tournaments who holds up the quiet sign)
3. Gimme a minute to pee in the bush.

Gimmie rule is something between friends to speed up play. You can not take a gimmie or Mulligan in a golf tournament. You must putt the ball out. Unless you are playing in match play. In match play you can tell the person your playing against to pick the ball up it's good.

It depends on how technical you want to be. You won't be seeing any gimmies during any non match play events on any of the Pro Tours.

not if your playing stroke play, you have to play the ball to the hole, in match play you can gimme a putt to your opponent at any time. Be weary of people in match play who start off by giving you a lot of 3 footers because later in the match they will probably make you putt everything and you haven't made a short putt yet, chances are you will miss. With that being said you can practice your missed or given putt after completion of the hole as long as you are not interfering with oncoming play

Yes. It prohibits "gimmies."

Each stroke is to be counted until the ball comes to rest at the bottom of the hole.

Nope, sorry. Official rules say you've got to put the ball in the hole every time.

That's not to say you and your partners can't agree that anything within, say, a foot of the hole can't be considered "automatically in on the next shot" (a gimme).

Official rules say no but among friends you can agree to a length. Usually about 12inches

If you're playing match play (hole-by-hole), you can concede a putt to your opponent at any time.

If you're playing medal play (stroke-by-stroke) you can't concede anything.

if with friends, it's the length of your putter head to where the grip starts. in a tournament, forget it. helps to have a long putter.
