I agree with the American Pit Bull Terrier. Great dogs, but I wouldn't recommend them for everyone. They love people, are generally great with kids, and are extremely amusing. Though they can be dog aggressive, esp with unaltered dogs of the same sex. They also need lots of exercise and mental stimulation--they're smart, after all, and need to problem solve in order to be happy. Without exercise they can be destructive. Finally, because a number of irresponsible breeders are making unstable mutts and calling them "pit bulls" Joe Public has let a sensationalized issue warp his small little mind. So travel can be hard since they're banned in some states. Very sad. To respond to the labradoodle comment, no, they are not a "real breed" as they are not recognized by the UKC or AKC. To be a breed a line of dogs must throw (produce) consistently for a number of generations before even being considered. Labradoodles are mutts. And border collies are generally considered the "smartest" dog breed, though there are a number of scales to factor when judging intelligence--working intelligence is different than problem solving, which is different than "learning tricks."

I have a lab and every single guy that walks in here gets attached to him. They always say that they are going to take him home with them. I also have a lhasa/pom that they just ignore but all of the woman love. So I would definately say that labs are men's favorite dog!

men like rough, playful, protective dogs like pitts, boxers, german sheperds, collies, rottweilers, dobermans, mastiffs, great danes. but alot of these dogs have tempers and have the tendency to turn on their owners. so if u have kids greatly think twice about what type of dog u want around. cause some dogs see small children as things to "chew on" .... literally!

Labradors, Rottweilers, Mastiffs, Great Pyrenees (sp?), etc. Mostly all the bigger breeds that have muscle, sense of protection, and the ability to wrestle hard.

Weimaraner - (pronounced vi-mer-ar-ner)
It's a dog similar to the dobermann, only it's coat is a smokey, blue-grey and its face and ears look slightly softer.
