I want to learn Brazilian Portuguese. If anyone has tired learning this particular language- I will love to hear from you. Was it really hard? How long did it take to learn the basics?

Hello,

That is cool, that you want to learn Portuguese. Brazilian Portuguese is slightly different from the Portuguese spoken, in Portugal with pronunciation, syntax and also word order and some words are said different.

Pimsleur recorded books and rosetta stone are what people are using now, i have used the Pimsleur recorded book it is great because it is like recorded conversations. It is expensive so i borrowed it from my local library.

If you want something free from the internet, try www.byki.com and remmeber to click on Brazilian Portuguese.

To tell you the truth me being an English speaker it wasn't hard at all, it was very interesting because i am facinated by Languages and also Culture. My advice to you is take your time and pace your self and learning.

Teach yourself brazilian portuguese, is also great if you want to travel

yah if it were me, I would probably invest in something that's colourful, i couldn't sit and read a text book, especially since you miss out on pronounciation... try a programme for your computer... or an audio one, they do work, but you probably won't ever get really fluent unless u mix with brazilians.. i lived in brazil 6 months lol enoughj time to pick up the basics if you work at it.
