Yes, according to Catholic doctrine, masturbation is a sin. Other sects of Christianity have differing opinions. I believe baptism is also against masturbation. However, since everyone does it, I'm not sure how long that stance is going to last.

Hi emo boi-
The Bible does not spend a lot of time discussing this, so it's importance is probably in a principle rather than an act. There is guidance in Leviticus 15:16-18 about the spilling of this bodily fluid. This, as well as a woman's menstrual blood, is considered unclean. I think we all know to wash after certain activities.
Generally, if there is a question, why not err on the side of pleasing God? Masturbation pleases self and noone else. Sexual frustration is a very real problem, especially for a single. But one's mental focus is even more important. For certain, struggling with and giving so much negative attention to something is still taking the focus off God.
Try high-energy sports, hanging out with friends, studying God's Word, praying for a suitable mate and being generally busy and tired, instead. Hope this helps. Buttercup

Neither "masturbating" nor "mastrobating" are sins against the Christian religion!

According to Catholics, yes, casue it's spilling your seed whcih should be used for procreation. This would apply to males, of course- I'm guessing females would be frowned on too but I'm not sure what the justification would be. Personally, I grew up as a mix of denominations- probably closest to Baptist now cause of my conservatism- and I don't think it is.

The act of masterbation is not a sin, however impure thoughts which go along with or sometimes even cause masterbation are sins.

Apparently, EVERYTHING in the world is a sin according to the Christian religion. (Except intolerance).

no longer in my faith, i'm a Christian....that is termed taking care of your self.....God suggested that our body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit. we'd want to continuously take functional care of it. No it isn't a sin to shave his legs......if it really is what he likes

depends on the relegion the one i practice does they quote the verse out of the old testament of a man spilling his seed on the ground. but my personal view is that that story was talking about disobeying gods will and he was having sex but pulled out and came on the ground rather than actually inside the girl which was the wife of someone in order to prevent her from getting pregnant. but it is for every mans interpretation and relegions have their own rules and beliefs depending on which you belong to.
