The egg came first. Reptiles laid eggs before there were any chickens on earth. The great-times-a-hundred-million grandmother of the chicken was a dinosaur-like reptile that laid eggs. It took millions of eggs, and millions of years, for it to evolve into birds like the chicken. So, there was an egg before there was a chicken.

It seems, according to the theory of evolution, that it would be the egg. ie. A chicken like creature laid an egg that developed into an even more chicken like creature, which laid an egg that developed into something that finally qualified as a chicken.

obviously the egg. this is due to evolution. god didnt just poof animals onto earth. thats ridiculous. organisms back from bacteria and plants evolved slowly. chickens evolved from something else. evolution is when [good] mutations occur thus making the organism stronger so it can reproduce more. obviously the 'final' mutation occured in an egg from an organism. inside the egg was the 'first' chicken.

I would guess the egg because the animals were supposed to be created first and then named so my guess would be the chicken.

its the egg...its called evolution...an animal...not a chicken and then the egg evolved into a chicken...i looked it up

Who knows.......do have to ask though....Is this egg a bird egg or a fish egg, etc.,etc. I think fish were around first so maybe the egg (as in fish) was first.
