Jehovah's Witnesses understand heaven to refer to the dwelling place of spirit creatures such as Jesus and the angels. They understand the Scriptures to teach that exactly 144,000 humans will join Christ Jesus as kings and priests to administer God's Kingdom (which will soon replace all earthly governments).
(Daniel 2:44) God of heaven will set up a kingdom... It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite
(Revelation 14:1) Lamb [Jesus] standing upon the Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand
(Revelation 20:6) they will be priests of God and of the Christ, and will rule as kings with him
Over whom with they rule? Over the vast majority of mankind, most of whom will have been raised from the dead after Armageddon.
(John 11:23,24) Jesus said to her: “Your brother will rise.” Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.”
Hell is NOT someplace/something we need to fear; there is no suffering in the grave. Sometime after the resurrection, the death and hell will themselves be destroyed.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all
(Ecclesiastes 9:10) there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol ["hell"]
(Revelation 20:14) And death and Hades were hurled into the lake of fire
Almighty Jehovah God selects those few who have the heavenly calling. Although each person "feels" his own hope and each remains unquestioned by his fellow Christians regarding that, still the vast majority (more than 99.9%) of Jehovah's Witnesses expect an earthly hope. While there are no additional requirements for Christians with a heavenly hope, one might expect that they would have proven themselves over many years of faithful service.
Jehovah's Witnesses practice the Scriptural practice of disfellowshipping for unrepentance of such serious sins as fornication, drug abuse, stealing, and apostasy. Baptized Witnesses who join the military or publicly engage in worship with another religion are considered to have disassociated themselves from Jehovah's Witnesses.
Contrary to the lies of anti-Witnesses, it is quite possible to become inactive in the JW religion without becoming disfellowshipped. As long as one's lifestyle does not bring reproach upon the congregation, and as long as one does not advocate one's disagreements with the religion, the congregation has no interest in "investigating", exposing, and disfellowshipping an inactive former Jehovah's Witness.
For those who are disfellowshipped or disassociated, a primarly goal is to shock the person into recognizing the serious of their wrong so that they rejoin the congregation in pure worship. Since the primary bonds that are broken involve friendship and spiritual fellowship, it is well understood that family bonds remain intact. Parents, siblings, and grown children of disfellowshipped and disassociated ones sometimes choose to limit what they may feel is discouraging or "bad association" but that is a personal decision and is not required by their religion.
Former Witnesses who are disfellowshipped or disassociated are typically treated in accord with the Scriptural pattern explained in these Scriptures:
(1 Corinthians 5:11-13) Quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man. ...Remove the wicked man from among yourselves.
(Titus 3:10) As for a man that promotes a sect, reject him after a first and a second admonition
(Romans 16:17) Now I exhort you, brothers, to keep your eye on those who cause divisions and occasions for stumbling contrary to the teaching that you have learned, and avoid them.
(2 Thessalonians 3:6) Now we are giving you orders, brothers, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, to withdraw from every brother walking disorderly and not according to the tradition you received from us.
(2 Thessalonians 3:14) But if anyone is not obedient to our word through this letter, keep this one marked, stop associating with him, that he may become ashamed.
(2 John 10) If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, never receive him into your homes or say a greeting to him.
(Matthew 18:17) If he does not listen to them, speak to the congregation. If he does not listen even to the congregation, let him be to you just as a man of the nations

Heaven...Where God's Government rules from. Jesus is King and he co-rules with 144000 anointed people. The rest of the people who God deems worthy of everlasting life get to live on Paradise Earth.
Hell...considered the same as grave. Not a place of torture, but people who die stay dead without gaining consciousness. There is no limbo or purgatory. They believe that they dead are not aware of what is going on. That a person is a soul, not that they have a soul.
Being removed from religion...has to be a serious sin, and the person has to be unrepentant. Things like taking up smoking and refusing to quit, continuing a sexual relationship outside of marriage, being active in another religion (praying to different gods).
Family unit...somewhat traditional where husband is the head and the leader...but not tyrannical. He is expected to be responsible for the wellbeing of his family...especially with regards to spiritual matters. Wife is to be supporter of husband, which is not difficult to do if the husband does his job well. Children to be obedient to parents.
But this is too brief. Better to talk to people you know are witnesses or go to their official website.

Complicated questions with lengthy answers lol. The dried up version:
The fire and brimstone hell of history doesn't exist; hell is the common grave of mankind and when someone dies they know nothing afterwards (pain, pleasure, thoughts...)
Heaven is very real and only a flock of 144,000 people will get there. The rest of humanity will procede with God's original purpose to 'be multiply and subdue the earth'; Make it into paradise with lots of ppl :) at which time ppl will not die or age or get sick, as was intended in the beginning.
Children are raised up in the faith from infancy.
The husband is the head of the household, as Christ is the head of the church. They are to be respectful to their wives. Wives are expected to be submissive to their husbands in regard to household matters as long as he is being respectful and reasonable.... and as long as he does not endanger her spirituality.
Any JWs, please correct me if I'm wrong :)

I only know a few of the basics.
They don't believe that there is a hell.
They believe that only 144,000 people will go to heaven. Those are supposed to be the ones who are the best people all through history.
If you are not one of the ones who goes to heaven, you will simply cease to exist.
It is considered a cult by most mainline religions.

Those are really complicated questions and would take me a while to answer here in this space. I guess that they're really not "complicated"... it's just that they're not short little "yes" and "no" answers. I suggest that you go to http://www.watchtower.org/. They have a lot of information on their site. On the right hand side there is a navigation bar that has links for the basics of their faith.

Jehovah God chooses who goes to heaven the 144,000. the word hell is just the common grave. nothing more. when you die you just go to sleep a deep sleep. remember Jesus woke his friend from death, if he was in heaven and Jesus knew it, why would Jesus bring his friend back here on earth? also the meek would be here on earth.

Jesus was the first to receive a resurrection to heaven. "When Jesus was on earth, which was over 4,000 years after the rebellion of Adam and Eve, he said: “No man has ascended into heaven but he that descended from heaven, the Son of man.”—John 3:13.
What about all the faithful men and women who died before that? They are still "sleeping" in death and are awaiting a resurrection to life on earth as God promised them. Imagine seeing such ones as Noah, Moses, Daniel, Job, and all the prophets and being able to talk with them. How wonderful that will be.
Why did Jesus go to heaven? What work does he have to do there? The answers to these questions are important. This is because those who go to heaven will share with Jesus in his work. They go to heaven for that very purpose. Jesus will rule over the paradise new earth as king of God’s heavenly government. Long before Jesus came to the earth, the Bible book of Daniel foretold that the “son of man” would be “given rulership.” The “Son of man” is Jesus Christ. (Mark 14:41, 62) And Daniel goes on to say: “His rulership is an indefinitely lasting rulership that will not pass away, and his kingdom one that will not be brought to ruin.”—Daniel 7:13, 14.
The apostles are to rule with Jesus in heaven. He told them: “You are the ones that have stuck with me in my trials; and I make a covenant with you, just as my Father has made a covenant with me, for a kingdom.” (Luke 22:28, 29) Later, the apostle Paul and Timothy were included in this covenant, or agreement, for a kingdom. For that reason Paul wrote Timothy: “If we go on enduring, we shall also rule together as kings.” (2 Timothy 2:12)
So those who go to heaven go there to serve as joint rulers with Christ in God’s heavenly government. While Jesus is the main “seed” of promise, God chooses others from among humankind to rule with Jesus in the kingdom. They thus become part of the “seed,” as the Bible says: “If you belong to Christ, you are really Abraham’s seed, heirs with reference to a promise.”—Galatians 3:16, 29; James 2:5.
How many are chosen to rule with Jesus in his Kingdom? The total number who go to heaven will be small when compared with the many who will receive life on earth under Kingdom rule. Jesus told his disciples: “Have no fear, little flock, because your Father has approved of giving you the kingdom.”—Luke 12:32.
God's word reveals how many are taken from the earth to be co-rulers: Rev.7:14; 14:1; Rev.14:3. That indeed is a "little flock" when compared to the billions of people on earth.
But why does God choose these rulers from among humankind? Why not have angels rule with Christ? Well, it was here at the earth that Jehovah’s right to rule was challenged. It was here that the faithfulness of men to God could be put to the test under opposition from the Devil. It was here that Jesus proved his full loyalty to God under test and gave his life as a ransom for mankind. So it was from the earth that Jehovah arranged to take a “little flock” of persons to be associated with his Son in the heavenly kingdom. They are the ones who, by their faithfulness to God, proved false the Devil’s charge that men serve God only for selfish reasons. It is fitting, therefore, that Jehovah uses these humans for his glory.—Ephesians 1:9-12.
Also, think how wonderful it will be to have as rulers persons who proved faithful to God on earth, many of them even sacrificing their lives in behalf of the Kingdom. (Revelation 12:10, 11; 20:4) Angels have not faced such kind of testings. Nor have they experienced the problems common to humankind. So they would not fully understand what it is like to be a sinful human and to have the problems we humans do. But the heavenly class will understand because they have had these very problems. Some of them have had to overcome very sinful practices, and they know how hard it can be to do so. (1 Corinthians 6:9-11) Therefore, they will deal with their earthly subjects in an understanding way.—Hebrews 2:17, 18.
I hope this answers the question regarding heaven. There is so much information that could be given regarding the other questions but it is impossible to put it all here. You may contact me if you like and I will be happy to share answers from the Bible on the other subjects.
