What are the things that he lets you know and won't let you know?

2006-06-16 06:08:47 · 8 answers · asked by meiji_princess 2 in Family & Relationships Singles & Dating

He's an E6 promotable to E7.
He does a lot of training for students.
He plays softball with his unit.
He reports directly to the Sgt Major.
That's what he's shared me.

And now this 3-day weekend for the military, he says he's got to go out of state to Louissiana again to relieve someone else's duty, for an OC.

What's going on?

I've dated many guys in the military and my current boyfriend is active Army. It is not an easy thing...I won't lie. But true love can get you through anything. The hardest thing about being with a military guy is most likely going to be not having them around on deployments and temporary duties (TDY's). The other is when they work a job that they can't tell you where they are going...

It truely takes a woman with a pure and loving heart to be in one of these relationships. So if you think you can do it...then go for it girl!

My man is about to leave for Iraq for a year in a short while now...but I have love and faith that everything will be fine. And I already can't wait to see his smiling face when he gets home to me!

This is so funny, I've dated military men before, while I was in..AND after I separated from the military.

They LOVE to overexaggerate their jobs and lives. I've seen dudes (while I was in) that had girlfriends all over the place because they could tell them anything and the unsuspecting girl doesn't know what hell is going on because of all the military jargon. Hell, I've even done it to a couple of guys.

Okay, you say he's an E-6 promotable to E-7. That's a GOOD thing this means that he's older and more mature, he probably has no reason to lie to you at all.

Second, his rank basically tells me he's been in for what like 8 or 9 years and that's being generous. You have to remember sweetie, military IS a way of life. He's been using acronymns for YEARS and its second nature to him now. He probably doesn't even realize he's using them. So, just ask him to explain when he says something you don't understand.

Just like any occupation, the military has its own special language.

And, there is PLENTY he can tell you. Quite a bit of military information is not confidential, secret or top secret. But don't get me wrong ALOT IS AS WELL.

So, whatever he has to do in Louisiana, just ask him to clarify. I wish I could tell you but I have no idea what the acronym OC stands for. I highly doubt he's trying to keep anything top secret from you.

But yes, expect him to get deployed (especially now) expect him to work long erradic hours, and expect him to be a bit stressed at times.
