I'm thankful I live in my country. My pride only extends to things that I or my loved ones have accomplished. To feel pride for a country means that you feel that the people of that country are superior to the other people of the world, which is xenophobic and ignorant. I am, however, pleased to benefit from the democratic system our forefathers (whom I would not blame at all for being proud of their work) constructed. And I am proud of myself for participating in this democratic system by voting and by making my voice heard, even when it is in opposition to the current administration.

I am not, however, proud of the actions of the current administration. I am ashamed and embarrased of them. In fact, I consider it my duty and my right to fight for our democratic system and our liberties by opposing anyone who tries to destroy them, even if that is the President himself.

Patriotism isn't about blind obedience. It's about doing what's necessary to make sure your country makes the right choices and goes in the right direction. Those who remain silent in the name of patriotism as their leaders cheat, lie, and swindle not only our own people but the rest of the world should be ashamed, not proud, of their behavior.

I"m not sure anymore. I do live in the best country in the world. We are said to be free, but I'm starting to think that is only an image. We don't really have rights, it's all lies. The only reason the US has stay up for 200 year because people believes these lies, it's all fake, we arn't living in a reality, nothing is true. Am I proud of these lies, I don't think so.

I love my country and am proud of my founding fathers for trying to set up a free country and limited government. I am not proud of soceity or the majority of the people in it. I am not proud to be part of capitalism or the greed of the nation of America or the umbrella of ignorance most are living under.

I am very proud of our country (USA). However that doesn't mean I have to like everything about our political system.
Despite the problems we face in this country, I honestly believe it is the best nation on the planet.

The U.S? No, I am not.

I love my country, but can't claim pride because I despise its current government, its current approaches to foreign policy and healthcare and civil rights for gays/people with disabilities/immigrants/the poor, and its lack of follow-through/unwillingness to prosecute the corrupt and be frank about mistakes.

I do, however, have great hopes for my community, and one day I would like to be able to say I am a proud member of a city that cherishes freedom, promotes equality, and champions the weak.

ABSOLUTELY!!!! Those who claim they aren't should at least be proud that they live in a country that doesn't put you in prison for not being proud. They take this country for granted.
