An easy way to get rid of the light would be to tap a screw driver into it with a hammer.

Newer cars, take it into Autozone and they will loan a scan tool to you for free that can be used to turn it off.

It will also tell you which sensor triggered the light.

If you don't fix the problem the light will turn on again within a matter of days if not hours.

The most common reason that light comes on is because of the gas cap. either you filled the car while it was running or it is loose or it is leaking air into the tank. The tank has to keep pressure in it for the fuel system to run correctly

Take it to a garage and get it fixed. Killing the bulb won't get you through an emissions inspection, just a ding for a burned out or missing bulb and the inspection will still fail.

im guessing that you put a aftermarket exhaust or air intake. just pull the instrument cluster and pull the bulb. you will have to put it back come inspection time. no bulb no pass. i found out the hard way

Shouldn't you see why the light is on. Out of sight doesn't mean all is fine.
