Pets are like children. The question is would you leave your children behind if someone told you to in an emergency. Pets are part of my family I would never leave them behind. I would stay with them no matter what.

This question has been raised on the banter forum I belong to. It is in reference to hurricane Katrina. A lot of people lost their own lives because they would not leave without their beloved pets. I live in Western PA, so a hurricane wouldn't be an issue here, but tornado or flooding from our local damn breaking could be major catastrophes. In either of those cases, my children, my dogs, and my cat would be top priority. So no I would not leave them behind if I was told I had to. I would stay till we all could be saved. It is just idiotic that authorities tell us to leave our pets behind. What right do they have?? OHH I am riled at the thought of being told what I can and can't take with me. It's my babies with me. Not without me..............

There is simply no way. I would do everything I could possibly do and take them with me. I know me, and if my home ever caught on fire, it would take a slew of people to keep me from going in after them. I live in a hurricane area, and I have already informed my family, if that ever happens, I'm not going anywhere. When I took them into my life, I was telling them that I would take care of you - no matter what. If I did everything possible, and still lost them, at least I would be able to sleep at night knowing that I gave it my all. If I did anything less, then I didn't deserve them in the first place.

I would rather die first. The soul of my pet is just as important as mine and i wouldn't leave a human being behind so why a pet?

I don't know how you mean. If there was a fire, my puppy would be coming with me. She is part of my family, like my child. I love her dearly and could never leave her. Thankfully, she sleeps in our room and hangs out with us, so I don't know why I would have to leave her. If I had to leave because of an emergency and my puppy would be safe when I returned, no problem.

Absolutely not... it would haunt me for the rest of my life if I were to leave my babies behind and something wereto happen to them... If they can't go with me... I can't go....If worst came to worst, I'd load them up in my car and drive till I found somewhere where we could be together. There's no way I could leave them...

Never!!!!!!!! Not in a million years. I don't care. I would die before I left them. I could never ever leave them!!!! They are more loving and loyal than many humans I have seen.

absolutely no way would they be left behind. That is why all the animals left behind during Katrina are so sad. It really makes me mad that people could do that
