Thank you very much for your question! I ask myself this every day. My visa expired, so they count me as illegal, although I pay all taxes and speak excellent English!
I haven't seen my parents for years and they can't come here, because US govmt doesn't give visas.
Immigrating legally is nearly IMPOSSIBLE!

I don't know where to start with you.
First, if we are the richest country in the world, THAT DOES NOT MAKE US A CHARITY.
Second, WE TRADE with countries for both our advantages or give aid, but we don't immigrate them to cause social problems at home.
Third, immigration isn't based on how much a country has or it's GDP. It depends on the needs of the country, and I don't see where we need 100 million over every 20 years to reduce unemployment.
For every American that no longer has a shot at the American dream, try convincing us that bringing more less fortunate people into our society and paying to support them in every way is the answer and we're racists.
And next, what do you mean not welcoming, there's 4 million Mexicans a year, and the current bill calls for extinguishing our soverienty of our southern border and givng it to Mexico to let them decide what and how to do it - We give up our right to defend ourselves, the strongest country in the world - without the express written permission from the President of Mexico.
We have two presidents now.
So, before you hail on colonization, you'd better be fair - tell Mexico to open their borders wide open so 40 to 60 million white and black Americans can colonize their country just like they do.
We are upset because we have no control over the population in the USA or the colonization and the returning of states to Mexico, there is no way to stop it, and our leaders don't care.
We get it. Americans suck all over the world, and now they're going to take our land for it by majority population vote.
And you wonder why we don't like it?

We cannot even adequately educate our own children in border states and areas where illegal immigrants concentrate. A big reason is the need for expensive ESL programs which slow education for the other children. Their better life is at the expense of our children.
The middle class subsidizes education and health benefits for the poor (even if they paid all taxes for their income class) which is why developed countries with subsidized services limit how many poor immigrants can come into the country. That is why the line is long and why we can't afford to have illegal immigration or an irresponsible immigration program flooding our services with poor immigrants.
If there weren't so many illegal immigrants, we would be able to let some rationale amount more in legally. However, that is a situation we do not face.

So why not let the world come here, right? Why not have ships that bring everyone poor here? Why not fly all the poor people of the world here?
Why is it that WE are responsible for the poor? Mexico has the 5th largest economy in the world, but they don't care about their OWN poor. They government is so corrupt there that the money all goes to the thieves in govt. But that makes US bad, right?
Lucky my *ss. Americans have a great work ethic, we love our country, and we get really pissed when people sneak in the back door and try to *uck us in the *ss. You need to learn what it's like to be an American. Americans welcome wholeheartedly Legal Immigrants, but we despise illegal aliens.
Another thing, those illegal Mexicans that you say want to be here legally, they sure as hell don't want to learn English, and they don't spend the money they steal here in the U.S. They ship it back to Mexico. They also steal healthcare and education. The profits they make, they make for large corporations. So tell me exactly why we want Illegal aliens here?
Don't post that bs about how "hard" it is to come here legally, my mother did it, about 2 million do every year. But you don't want that to be posted do you? Too bad you'd rather preach ignorance that deal with reality.

In order of your post.
1. It IS possible to legally immigrate here. I have a new member of my family who immigrated from South America, and has done everything BY THE BOOK. (He's not to thrilled with the ILLEGALS breezing through either, btw...) He speaks PERFECT English (altho he only started learning about 5 years ago), works a high-skill technical job, and has acclimated to the U.S. culture. It IS legal -- it's just not possible to take on hundreds of thousand of people from every other country in the world and sustain ourselves.
Second point -- America might be a wealthy country, but we are not a wealthy people. A very small percentage of the U.S. citizens are actually wealthy enough to be able to afford to "give" -- most are struggling to support their own families and NOT have to take handouts (which, btw, would be harder for THEM to get because they ARE tax-paying citizens!!!) While it would be lovely to be able to save the whole world, it's just not a possibility. It just can't be done. (If you've got that functional magic wand hidden away -- bring it on out, because I certainly haven't found one!)
If anyone is so well off that you would like to SPONSOR unfortunates from other countries -- feel free to do so. I am primarily not so welcoming of other people for several reasons. I can't afford to support them, first of all. I have no patience for those who come here and don't want to bother to learn the language or acclimate to the culture, and create a drain on our services and economy. Yes, most are very hard-working, and willing to work, and nice people. But, there are millions in OUR country that could use a hand -- our own people -- and we arent' helping THEM, and that should come first. Once OUR country is "fixed" -- THEN we can help the rest of the world.
And I feel strongly that if you can come here and formulate the plan to congregate en masse to try to force OUR government to give you things you technically have NO right to -- why the heck can't you do that with your own government.
And here's the key thing: ILLEGAL entry into this country is BREAKING OUR LAWS. By that very act, you are -- from the moment you do it -- indicating that you have no intention of following OUR rules. That's more like invasion. ILLEGAL has a very simple definition. Why is this hard?

It is not impossible to LEGALLY immigrate here, but it's not an instant, overnight process. Yes, since 9/11, they need to be more careful, but it is still possible. I'm not sure where you get your information, but it's wrong.
Also, not all Americans are wealthy. Maybe you are, but not every is. Millions of Americans live well below the poverty level. Millions more are homeless. Ever been to Washington D.C.? It's almost pitiful how many homeless people are swarming all over our nation's capital. Travel agents are trained to brief people on how to be careful with panhandlers and beggars in D.C. Great country, huh?
So let's open the doors to millions of illegals that our goverment can't afford to take care of. There are plenty of senior citizens in our county---many whom served in the Armed forces---who have to scrimp and save just to afford medication. Some even forgo livesaving medications because they can't afford it and the government funding is not there. But let's open the flood gates to millions of illegals that we have to feed and clothe! And someday, we'll have to pay for their Medicare, too!! Maybe in the meantime, they'll have a bunch of kids that will be on government assistance that taxpayers will have to pay for, too! Why not? Isn't America great?

The United States IS compassionate to people from other countries, but WHAT do you expect us to do??? Just open our borders and hang out a WELCOME mat?? You are being totally unrealistic!!! ESPECIALLY after 9-11,we have got to KNOW who is coming here and WHY!!!!
Are YOU or your family ILLEGAL??? Or,are you some school kid,who does NOT work OR pay taxes??? If you worked for a living, had almost half your wages withheld for taxes, then you would NOT be so quick to GIVE that money AWAY!!! Because, while this may be a "wealthy country".90% of Americans are NOT wealthy! They work HARD for every dollar they EARN,and do NOT want to give up a large portion of that to FREELOADERS like the illegals from mexico! Illegals are costing the taxpayers BILLIONS of dollars a year, for things like "free" medical, food stamps,AFDC,WIC,etc.,etc! this is money that could be used to help our OWN poor people! And YES,we do have people living on the streets here in America,a lot of them are veterans, who have FOUGHT for this country.
And,we DO allow MANY foreigners to come here, but we CAN NOT take in EVERYONE from EVERY country that wants to come here!!!! SINCE WHEN, is the United States responsible for the WHOLE WORLD??!!!
Besides that, illegals are driving down WAGES for American workers, AND costing jobs for American workers. They expose us to diseases we have NO cure for, they use STOELN and FAKE i.d.'s to work,so they pay NO taxes! Did you know that OVER one million crimes in America, are committed by ILLEGALS! Crimes that would NOT have happened if they had NOT been here!!!
And WHY is no one bitching about the government of MEXICO???!!!! THAT is the most corrupt government around!!! These ILLEGALS from mexico need to STAY in THEIR OWN DAMN COUNTRY and try to make changes there, instead of SPONGING off the U.S. TAXPAYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How high a tax do you want to pay each year? You want to sign over YOUR paycheck to a third world country, that's fine, there's lots of ways for you to donate. You start talking about the tax system, people start getting upset, especially when year after year we give millions, billions, TENS of billions away to other nations for NOTHING, NADA, and get exactly that in return.
And 'wealthy country's going to be a past-tense term if things don't turn around with the debt. How do you feel about paying taxes to foreign kings, again? Reagan started us rolling down the road to hell on that one, I don't think it's right.
Furthermore, go ahead and call it 'Mexico'. Mexico has a lot of socio-economic problems that they're not very motivated to take care of as long as they've got the USA as an 'easy out' to avoid actually doing something about them. Getting the border fence built and building up the immigration laws to where they actually mean something is a great step in helping Mexico to re-assert its' independence, and for the US as well. Maybe YOU are independently wealthy, the rest of us have about 1 paycheck before disaster. Did u know that the average american household is about 8 grand in debt, not counting the house payment, the car payment, the health insurance payment, utilities, property tax, fuel food and water? Like I said, you want to sign over YOUR paycheck, knock yourself out. 'Giving' in the name of others, the 'many', is a nice gesture, but in this instance, flawed. Mexico and other nations ALREADY get annual freebux from america, that's enough. They need to stand up and fix their own problems...they won't do it until we stop doing it for them....

Your statment is inaccurate in saying that American make it nearly impossible, it is infact the US Government that makes the policies and the INS is the people who make the rules and are enforcing them.
I dont really care if people immigrate from another country, just as long as they do it legally, and not jump the borders.

i stumble upon it exciting and a double accepted to say that is "human nature incentive receives more effective effects!!" execs say to provide away each thing plus the kitchen for the 12 to 20 million illegals contained in the U.S. and they pick to ward off the reality that that is precisely what were given it into this mess contained in the first position. that is the commonplace reason antis are pushing for the in undemanding words answer which will end the illegals from poring into our usa it really is to eliminate all incentives to be the following. "in case you tell someone absolutly no longer they'll do it besides yet in case you provide wish then they're going to be more effective in all likelihood to be more effective greatfull!!" i stumble upon those who do no longer take no for an answer as to guidelines to be a probability to lawfulness. there is wish to come back to this usa illegals in simple terms imagine they ought to take precedence over all others even if OTHERS have a more effective determined situation or no longer. the wish of illegals became they might get in the course of the border omitted. they did and they are nonetheless ungrateful to the rustic and human beings they're sucking dry. "oh and p.s. in accordance to the statue of liberty usa welcomes the a lot less fortunate." actual sufficient the statue of liberty says in simple terms that, yet i note there became no element out of our immigration guidelines. with pragmatism there is not any telling what someone is able to and there are 12 to 20 million pragmatic human beings and their supporters contained in the U.S.

So what? That's the problem with this country today. We are too busy taken care of other people. What about the Americans that are less fortunate? We have to take care of ourselves before worrying about others.
