I've seen it a million times: a woman wearing a low-cut blouse, sweater, dress or even t-shirt, or a short skirt or short shorts that shows off every inch of their legs, or jeans so tight you can read the date on a dime in their back pocket. So why do SOME (not all) women get offended and huffy and consider a man a "pervert" when he checks them out when they walk by, or looks at them for longer than a minute in a bar or the bus? Obviously the outfit is meant to accentuate, enhance or even reveal that aspect of their body. Yes, it could also be because it's hot outside, but c'mon, the open cleavage is going to make you that much cooler? And I understand the difference between a guy looking and a guy STARING, but what do you really expect? As I said, this is SOME women, not all. But I always wanted to know why wear it if you hate the stares.

To boredgal: I never said a woman didn't have the right to dress how she wants. But you use the word "revealing" - which means to make it known or put out in the open. Interesting choice of words. So if they are "revealing" something, why is it wrong for people, men or women, to look? That is the whole point of "revealing" something, to make it know to all.

Those are the same women who dress like that at work and then complain when a guy asks them out. They also are the ones who think their bodies will get them anything they want and get pissy when it doesn't work out like that. Now, I'm not saying that those women are "asking" for it or anything but seriously, ladies, what the f do you expect to get for attention when you dress like a hooker?
Boredgal: I've gotta say, I find the women who dress like hookers a lot more offensive than men who leer and drool. 1) We expect men to act like pigs. 2) We know it is going to happen when we dress like sluts. 3) Just as it is your right to dress as you choose, it is also a man's right to LOOK where he chooses. If you don't want him leering down your dress, don't put it all out there.

Heh. I have worn a plan tee shirt, and baggy jeans and recieved the same treatment. Of course, some clothing looks more revealing on some women than others. I have an, ahem, exaggerated figure, and there is little I can do not to show off a little short of wearing cowl neck sweaters everyday. That said, I know what I look like, and if someone looks at me, fine. Some women are probably in the same boat, but are less fine with it.
Then again, some of them are wanting to feel victimized. This isn't the only way to ensure that you'll have a bad day. It mystifies me, but some people of either gender will do things to get attention just so they can complain when they get it. Think of cars with rude bumper stickers who get honked at, but it's free speech, right? Think of the person with a billion facial piercings who wonders why everyone (not in NYC) is looking at them funny. Then there's always adherents of any religion who wear the largest symbol of that religion that they can as an invitation to argument.
But say for a minute the woman isn't looking for trouble. . . Its the WAY some men do the looking, not the looking itself that offends.. If all you do is look, tell her she looks nice today, or something like that and she still gets mad, you're dealing with a head case and should run away quickly. But even a woman dressed provocatively doesn't like to be treated like a whore or clucked at like she's a farm animal. My least favorite has got to be the sexual noises or tongue gestures. The rule here can be applied to many situations. Just because one thinks that someone is acting inappropriately, responding in an equally innappropriate fashion is still not good.
Oh, and yes, the open cleavage DOES make you that much cooler. How is this worse than men going shirtless?

I totally agree with "stiff_greygo..".
These women don't know what they want. I think they purposely do things to get attention from people so they can complain and make a big issue out of nothing. These are probably those women who are never happy.

right on man, I hear you completely, I think dave chapell summed it up best with his line about the man dressed up as a police officer who gets asked for help and replies 'hey hey, I'm not a police officer, I'm just wearing a police unifrom', if you wear it, you can't expect people not to treat you accordingly. I think they get upset though, to answer your question, because they don't dress nice for us, they dress nice for themselves and other women, and if cosmo said tomorrow that baggy clothes that didnt show a single feature was in, thats what they be wearing

Believe me if a woman dresses provocatively it is because she wants the attention! Plain and simple, whether she wants to admit it or not. I don't like to see women dress that way because I think it reduces them to sex objects and distracts the husbands/boyfriends of other women.

I personally believe that if u wear clothes that show ur breasts or thighs or even butts (seen it) then when a man stares u should not even care. Now may be sometimes it is not to, you know..get attn but hon even so u gonna get pos and neg feedback from a man so expect it and don't be offended if it happens..I love to look cute so yeah if they look they look...I think it's funny when they stare like that..personally

They trouble makers. Just wanting to cause trouble to show they can. Sad, some men do the same, well, not in how they dress, but, make trouble, it an Ego thing make them feel better than other people.

Without playing games, don’t be available 100% of the time or let your life be an open book. A man that comes on too strong or doesn’t have outside interests will scare a woman away just as much as it would if the circumstances were reversed. Read here http://AttractAnyWoman.emuy.info/?308A
Women don’t want to feel as though they are completely responsible for your happiness and that is what it feels like when the other person has no outside interests. Men who are overeager or jump when the woman says jump are the ones who are more likely to end up in the friend zone. This doesn’t mean that you should play the game of not calling for a few days; it means that you should set healthy boundaries until you both naturally find a spot for the other in your lives.
