The thing that is scariest of both Evolutionists and Creationists are their capability to compartmentalize what they "want" to know and what they "want" to discredit.

I work with engineers who are very zealous creationists and they refuse to even think about applying what they know about math, science, and logic to any portion of religious history.

Likewise I know scientists who refuse to acknowledge that it is remotely possible that everything started somewhere.

Both groups refuse to accept any amount of logic that the other could possibly be even partially correct. And these people make important decisions throughout world governments, sciences, medicine, etc... and we rely on their ability to make decisions for our own well being.

IMHO, extremists are almost always a little scary. The bibical fundamentalists who believe that the earth was created about 5K-6K years ago are more than a little scary. And, again IMHO, those who refuse to admit that there are things that that science cannot explain can be frightening too.

Lastly, I would say that even if science is your primary belief system, faith is envolved. Example: You may accept the "big bang" theory without question. But, how many of those who accept can really understand the math behind it. Most them had to take someone else's word for it.

You can find fanatics anywhere, in anything. No. They do not scare me, cause you don't see them blowing up clinics or showing up at a soldiers funeral to flash signs that he's burning in hell. Those are the types of fanatics that worry me. A Scientific Fanatic might tick me off he goes to my local bookstore and buys up a book I want.

There are many evolutionist fanatics that I have encountered--many people in the past have made huge errors and even gone so far as to create fraud to support their believe in evolution.

"Piltdown Man" was at one time supposed to be the "missing link" and it turned out to be a fraud.

"Nebraska Man" was another missing link that turned out to be a pig.

Look, here's a squirrel that was supposed to be extinct for "11 million years."

eh, science people aren't as crazy as many people think.
there are of course fanatics, but most science geeks have been kicked in the @ss so many times that they know to take everything with a grain of salt.

the physics geeks do scare me though. i don't know why. i guess every physics major i met has been creepy in the "i'm gonna follow you to your car and watch you" way.

Why would I be scared by someone trying to find their way or their truth? I respect everyone's right to believe and live as they choose.
