Hey I'm going to Washington DC this summer and looking for some cool jazz for relief from the hot summer nights. Tell me some good live jazz restaurants in the DC area please and thank you! :)

Here you go:
When you get to town, get the Thursday Washington City Paper (free) at various places around town. They have listings. Also the Thursday Washington Times and the Friday Washington Post have "weekend" guides to all clubs.
The long standing classic joint is "Blues Alley," in Georgetown. They have a website. No Metro access, though.
An old area revitalized is the "U Street" corridor. It's on the Metro Green line. One popular club revitalized from the Duke Ellington days is the "Bohemian Caverns." There are a number of other good places in that area as well. Check it out.
Also, the Kennedy Center now has a jazz club called "KC" for Kansas City. Very nice!
And on Friday nights the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History (yes, no joke) has it's own jazz club. 10 bucks to get in and they serve drinks and food.
Enjoy!

Bohemian Caverns on 11th and U, but bring a big pile of dollars because that place is not cheap!

The Vegas Lounge on 14th and P is my favorite. Great local talent on open mic nite! Or try Madams Organ on 18th just below Columbia Road.
