I just recently started the South Beach Diet and I have a question. Do you have to follow the menus strictly? Because it'll tell you to eat certain allowable foods for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. But i don't. I mean i stick with the plans meaning the requiered foods, but if im not hungry i dont eat. I may not eat a snack or a lunch. And i'd maybe eat a lunch for some of the dinner plans. For instance, a days menu could say that you should eat eggs, tomato juice, and canadian bacon for breakfast, turkey roll ups with cilanto dressing for snack, tuna salad for lunch, mozzarella stick for snack, and some eggplant meal for dinner. But I ate the mozarella stick for breakfast (cuz i wasnt hungry), the turky slices, but ate them with low fat chesse and jello (allowed foods) and i prolly will have a lunch meal for dinner since eggplant isnt appealing. Is this ruining the chemistry of the diet or is it okay?

I didn't exactly stick to the plan, but you have to make sure that you are eating, you really shouldn't be skipping meals or snacks. I lost close to 30 pounds. Here is what I did.

Mozz. Stick and fatt free jello in the morning
Mozz. Stick for a snack
Salad w/ oil and vinagar(chicken, tuna) for lunch
Meat and veggies for dinner.

The low carb diet is a great thing for someone who does not have high colesterol. I would sometimes cook up a whole batch of Jimmy Dean sausage and eat it at midnight when I was really hungry. And the next day I actually lost weight.

Instead of doing the SB diet. I would reccommend just cutting carbs out of your diet for a month or two, you will lose a ton of weight and when you get to where you want to be, try just eating well and exercising. That is what I do and I have been about 40 pounds lighter for over a year. I only did the no carb thing for about a month.

it is ok not to follow exactly there but you got to eat breakfast lunck and dinner and don't skipp them at all.
There are basically three phases in SB Diet. You eat normal portion sizes In Phase 1, but all carbohydrate are restricted. This is the strictest phase in the diet and will last for two weeks. It emphasizes lean meats, such as chicken, turkey, fish, and shellfish. Low-Glycemic-index vegetables are allowed as well as low-fat cheese, nuts, eggs. Dieters should expect to lose somewhere between 8 to 12 pounds. In Phase 2, some of the banned food are slowly introduced while weight loss continue to around 1-2 pounds per week. You should remain on it until you lost your desired amount of weight. Phase 3 is for maintenance and should be followed for life. Is all about maintaining your desired weight with a healthy balanced diet. Should your weight begin to climb, simply return to Phase 1.

The menus are just there for suggestions. As long as you adhere to the basic plan for the beginning weeks and only add when allowed it works. Much easier than Atkins

Enroll in an active artwork class, such as sculpture or perhaps ceramics.

Get hold of a plant for your office—watering it'll make you more active.

Keep a little water glass, which you have to refill often, instead of a large water bottle on your cubical.

I do think in case you reduce the belly as well as get accustomed to eating a smaller amount, it helps.
