Should a person like Nicole Richie, who has probably never read a book, be paid to write a book?

No. But it tells you something about our society when publishers figure the crowds will line up to buy her book rather than the book of a writer who really has something to say. Think of all the real writers who won't get published because resources are being devoted to Nicole Richie.

Why talk down on someone you know nothing of? It was loosely based on her life, which is pretty interesting, look how many people follow it. Anyways, it does not matter how intelligent a person is, if they have the ability to create a story that is interesting then yes they should be paid. Plenty of people might be lacking one thing or another, but they use their god given gifts to succeed.

Holy mother of spandex! Yes, she should get paid if she writes a book but to be sure, make sure the sum of payment is based on the quality of content.

Do you think she really wrote it herself? If she did and someone buys it, then that is their wasted money. Then again if your a fan...... Really, even if she dictated to someone else, and they typed it out, as long as the typist was payed who cares. I won't be in line for her book. But for all the things I don't like, hate, or can't stand, there is someone else out there that thinks it is the coolest thing since sliced bread.
