Great question. I asked something very similar less the a week ago and my email was packed with hate mail by so called bible pushers/ christains (if you dont belive me go check my questions and the answers i got) whom belived that they dont comit any sin so I guessed that hate mail /hate wasnt a sin.
i am a atheist so here goes.......... There is no god, no satan, no heaven, no hell. The bible is just a old story book changed by its belivers to suit their nutty belives. God did not make anything because there isnt a GOD............We live and we die........end of story. The christains fight among themself and others while they start wars, comit crime and sins and then run and hide behind the bible and church and when all fails then its the societys fault. They also hoard money and steal from their followers. Church and god is nothing but a man made concept and its a business. They also push their crazy belives and religionn to recruite more to further their cause to grow (business as usual).

God is the beginning and the end, which means an existance way too long for us to consider how He got here. It's not really significant to our current existance. It if was then He would have made sure it was revealed in His word (the Bible). By faith He expects us to accept Him (as He requests, and in like manner). Faith is what gives us the connection to God, and once there is rooted understanding of His nature (which He DOES reveal in his word) then we're a lot less concerned about where He came from and just plan happy that He provided a way for us to get back in touch with Him.

an all-powerful, all-knowing God does not need to be created, if he had to be created then there would be someone ruling over him, then he wouldn't be God. As for evolution, do scientist think that the earth created itself..formed from nothing...it's the same concept except God is our reason for being and without him there is none.

JESUS used parable's cause HE knew how thing's worked in the Spiritual WORLD around us. People don't normally understand the Spiritual REALM, but you can describe what's happening in that REALM using Parable's. Like you reap what you sow, that is a Spiritual LAW, and when you operate it in the Physical REALM(saying things, doing things etc.)you set up action's and re-action's in the invisible WORLD(Spiritual REALM) around us.
Think of GOD ALMIGHTY as a Great Big Flaming Fire-----there is nothing else, no EARTH, STAR SYSTEM, time, space so on and so on. Then GOD CREATED everything else. It's hard to imagine, but that's what the BIBLE said, and I believe that, so it's easy for me. I just let GOD be GOD(cause you would really have to be HIM to understand HIM, Human Being's are just a little below GOD and our understanding ABILITY is lower too. That's in the BIBLE too!! And I believe that too!!!. I believe an APPLE is an APPLE, I really don't have to understand it (apple) to enjoy eating an apple.

My question exactly! It is impossible, no?
I am quite amused that someone thinks this question is stupid, which must mean that they believe that something has always been without being created. This is against the whole cycle of EVERY SINGLE THING in the universe - everything is born, ages and dies - EVERYTHING, from radioactive uranium to whatever, there is a cycle to everything. This is why I cannot believe in God, or one of the many reasons, because it's so anti the whole cycle of the universe.

Turn the question backward and ask "If there was no God how did everything get here?" Since matter cannot be created or destroyed how did it get here?

Maybe everything WE know was created by God. Then maybe God has a God that created him and everything HE knows. Then maybe God's God has a God that created him and everything HE knows..... and so on and so on to infinity.

Most people today can't handle the things that are revealed to them already. What makes you think you can handle that answer? You obviously reject Him by that question, so if you reject God, you are not entitled to that answer.
There are also things that we may never have the answer to. If you did have an ongoing relationship with God, you would not ask questions like that, but be greatful that you have Him in your life and trust in Him always.

Everything started somewhere. We as a people do not have the intelligence to understand such beginnings nor the ability to figure them out. This is like the question, "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?"

God has always been. In the bible it says, first there was darkness and nothing but god, then he created earth and everything on it. ANd when you die if you go to heaven you can ask him.
