U.S. citizen tourists staying for fewer than 30 days do not require a visa, but must possess a passport and may be asked to show an onward/return ticket. Travelers must pay a Passenger Service Charge in Thai baht when departing from any of Thailand’s international airports.
When a traveler enters the country, Thai Immigration stamps in his or her passport the date on which the traveler’s authorized stay in Thailand will expire. Any traveler remaining in Thailand beyond this date without having received an official extension will be assessed an immediate cash fine when departing Thailand. Any foreigner found by police to be out of legal status prior to departure (during a Thai Immigration “sweep” through a guesthouse, for example) will be jailed, fined, and then deported at his or her own expense, and may be barred from re-entering Thailand.
In this regard, American citizens should be aware that private “visa extension services,” even those advertising in major periodicals or located close to Immigration offices or police stations, are illegal. A number of Americans are arrested at border cro ssings each year when the visas and entry stamps they have obtained through these illegal services are discovered to be counterfeit.

30 days, you can extend it when there by going to the Thai immigration office in Bangkok and paying a fee. This can take a few hours and is less of a hassle than doing a "Visa Run" to one of the adjacent countries. The longest visa you can get without special circumstances is 90days. Any Non Thai citizen must check in with the imigration office every 90 days also.

You can stay in any country for only 30 days without having a visa but some countries require you to have a visa upon entering like Italy you can't enter the country without one. Check the department of state website at travel.state.gov for the requirements for each country

Yes - you need a visa - they give it to you when you enter the country.. it is free for 30 days and then can be renewed easily by leaving and re-entering the country... there are buses that go to the Cambodian border every day - you walk across, they give you lunch at a casino while they do the paperwork and then you walk back.. its all easy.. you will have a great time here..

you have to get a visa going into any country...thailand gives you a 30-day visa but it is possible to pay extra for extended visas. if you happen to stay for longer than your visa permits than you'll have to pay a fine that isn't all that bad. have fun...thailand is beautiful...represent america like your mother would want you to.

tourist's cheques aren't to any extent further utilized in Thailand, or no longer with out limitless quantities of bewilderment and delay. Use your mastercard: you should pay a fee, yet there are quite some ATMs round, inclusive of on the airport, that settle for each and each of the considerable international playing cards.

30 days visa-free. If you need to, just cross to Myanmar or Laos and come back for another 30 days. Free.
