I live in NYC and recently my upstairs neighbor expired and rotted through my kitchen ceiling. Before I could get it sanitized, my tabby got into the mess and now is ignoring his kibble. The good news is he's put on weight, but now is territorial about the "area".

Any help is great, thanks!

p.s. his pelt has also improved.

oh, it's too late now, once kitty has tasted human meat, it's all over. The cat will stalk you and hunt you, and eventually will try to eat you, even while you're still alive. Don't go to sleep on the couch! You might wake up with your nose eaten off!

Nice his pelt has improved :)

Take your cat on vacation and have the afflicted area sanded and painted while you're gone. Switch from kibble to canned food and add a little tomato sauce to give it the right color to fool your cat.

Wow! Thats gross. I think eventually the area will lose the smell and the cat will go back to normal. You might try a better cat food or even soft food mixed in for awhile.

He wants real meat now. Cats are carnivores and would prefer real meat over dry cat food. You could always start buying that canned cat food that has the real meat bits in it. Or just buy mice and rabbits from pet shops and bring them to the cat, that is what we have to do with our snakes.

I'D CALL A VET and why didn't your landlord like call someplace that deals in decay clean-up? Sorry but eewww how gross. I can kind of understand about the territory thing.

how are you going to use your kitchen without tripping over him? Give him a whole other place (in another room) where he can claim as his own.

lol
I think you will be ok as long as you don't wake up at night with him doing the snoopy vulture stare at you or holding a pillow by your head or something lol.
