"whynotaskdon":
The eye would NOT be useless until fully developed. Imagine an organism was born with just a tiny, undeveloped lens that let light in but could not differentiate shapes, colours, or focus in any way. That organism would have the benefit of being able to swim towards or away from light, which would give it a selective advantage over organisms who just swam around with no direction whatsoever. This undeveloped lens would be passed onto future generations. Then, imagine an organism is born with a mutated 'lens' that not only let light in, but roughly differentiated between shapes. It would be miles off of the modern, human eye, but it would give the organism a huge selective advantage over other organisms because it could avoid large, looming shapes that redembled predators. One small mutation at a time, the eye changed and developed.
Why would God choose to give cats really useful, sharp eyes, and give some creatures relatively useless, blurry eyes? If he is so great and cares for his creatures, why not give everyone the cadillac eye?

Stop personalizing God as if He were human.
Evolution is probably the fundamental most effective way of explaining most things, simplistically speaking. God on the other hand, is usually imagined as a singular deity, a being, and individual, and hence He did "this" and He did "that". But those are characterestics of a human being. To think, to "design", to be an architect are all human traits. If you stoop God down to this level, how can he ever be the Supreme Being?
Evolution is a natural process, and the laws of evolution (Natural Selection, Survival of the fittest, Mutation ladidadida...) incite that there is a general Law, a Force (not an individual or being), an Order of things and events, a Chaotic Pattern, A Fractal Geometry, un explainable Series of Things that lead to an apparent Creation.... Couldnt that be God too? Couldnt EVOLUTION be God too?
He is "the" Supreme Being after all. The Supreme Deity. the Supreme Force. The Supreme Universal Law of all both physics and myth. He doesnt do. He just Is.
And we dont need to understand.
Postcriptum:
You will find that most people who believe that God is an Indivudual and has human traits such as "doing", "designing" and "creating" are Fundamentalist Christians. By this, I categorize those people who based their faiths and beliefs independently on The Bible and sometimes a little too much: they take it literally word for word (even the Roman Catholic Church would advise against this kind of faith).
On the other hand, most Evolutionists will try as much as they can to segregate the idea of a Supreme Being from Nature, in which thinking the principal folly is the fact that everything is NATURAL (even man and his creations). The idea of a System, a General Law must lie somewhere in there, something pretty much like the relationship of Linear Dynamics and Chaos Theory. Nature and Evolution is Linear Dynamics, and God is Chaos Theory.
In my humble opinion, both groups of people are a little too extreme.

Last thing first: The structure of eyes differ between humans and other species -- some a little and some a lot. Flys have a compound lenses, like looking at mutliple television sets linked together. Others vary and you may need to research all of the differences.
Too bad Darwin didn't have any knowledge of cellular biology and in particular DNA. If he did, he would have understood that cellular and DNA structures show specific programming. Change the programming and you change the cell. Search for Flagellar Motor to see the design of an actual bacterial motor.

The following is in part what Darwin said about the eye. The first sentence is often dishonestly quoted out of context by creationists in order to discredit legitimate evolutionary science. I have pasted a more representative excerpt from the passage, and you can follow the link to chapter six to read it in its entirety:
"To suppose that the eye, with all its inimitable contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light, and for the correction of spherical and chromatic aberration, could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest possible degree.
Yet reason tells me, that if numerous gradations from a perfect and complex eye to one very imperfect and simple, each grade being useful to its possessor, can be shown to exist; if further, the eye does vary ever so slightly, and the variations be inherited, which is certainly the case; and if any variation or modification in the organ be ever useful to an animal under changing conditions of life, then the difficulty of believing that a perfect and complex eye could be formed by natural selection, though insuperable by our imagination, can hardly be considered real. How a nerve comes to be sensitive to light, hardly concerns us more than how life itself first originated; but I may remark that several facts make me suspect that any sensitive nerve may be rendered sensitive to light, and likewise to those coarser vibrations of the air which produce sound (Darwin 1872, 143-144)."
Of course, there is much more recent research on the evolutionary history of sensory organs, much too much to cover in this forum. Don't fall for the un-informed, and often dishonest claims of those promoting intelligent design as a legitimate field of study rather than the weakly-veiled religious doctrine it is. ID is so far from mainstream scholarship that such claims would simply be funny, if the ID strategy wasn't based on misquoting, misrepresentation, and misleading the public. Always do research for yourself. Go back to the source material. Check up on what anyone tells you!

The world is So complex that a few "Compromises" have to be made to resolve function with physical matter in a practical world/universe. Evolution (that animals changed in form over Millions of years) in it self does not conflict with the philosophy of most Christians--only a few fundies. Although the MECHANISM of evolution(RANDOM mutations causing "natural Selection) may be in doubt. It is very hard to explain mathematically how DNA, life and complex functioning organisms could have developed in ONLY the 13 billion year old age of the universe. Billions of chimps could not type one of Shakespeare's Plays or assemble a working 747 Jet in a BILLION TIMES those years, and how much more complex is a Human Being and his brain? We must conclude at least the there is some form of "intelligence" inherent in the structure universe itself --perhaps arising out of the mathematical relationships of it's components, to have caused complex mechanisms to have developed in a minuscule fraction of the time it would have taken for a random process alone.----We really are not sure what "intelligence" really is. What we call "God" may exist as this inherent "computer-like intelligence"----and it may even be sentient--who knows? Just because he may not conform to the "old man on a cloud" image of the ignorant does not mean something like a "God" does not exist. "Random Natural selection" is only still acceptable as an evolutionary mechanism (despite its shortcomings) because people can't think of anything better at the moment--without resorting to an "inherent intelligence" theory of sorts.

yes he did, the reason behind that observation is found in the scripture in Genesis chpt 1...there it explain that HE (GOD)create everything according to their kinds.....so you would therefore see a difference with everything, because each creature has different purpose, imagine birds with our eyes they wouldn't survive... without binocular, or "stereo-vision", birds would be flying into things all the time. It's even more important when it comes time to land and judging the distance to the ground or a perch.
Do some more research and be open minded and humble ....

Did Louis ask this question? If so, why does he ask so many redundant questions over and over again all with the same, simple answers? Doesn't he get it yet?
His questions are NOT insightful or well thought out. His points are simplistic and easy to discount but there is no sense in arguing with someone who has no interest in the truth.
So, instead, let's just mock his questions every chance we get. In addition, we get 2 points while he looses 5!!! That sounds fair.

Dont u get it my dear?
God design EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING that u ever thought of!! EVERYTHING, even as small as molecule, proton, genetics, virus, blood cell everything is design by God.
Dont u understand what Everything means?
Why God made differences and varitations?
First to differentiate one another, to make differences, for human to think about how powerful God is, that he can create such complex creature with variations.
Those variations and creations are for men to think that there are certainly 1 power that create those complexity in a creature. We human or animals could not even create a similar creature even as tiny as flies or bacteria, or even a worms.
Every single structure and differing degrees of complexity has its own purpose and it functions rely on to one another. If there is no muscles that join eye balls surely we cant move our eyes to left and right easily, infact we have to move the whole body.
Every creature has its own functions in this world, just look at the funtions of insects eyes, their range of view are different from mamals, why? to get a better security and to get a better view to find foods etc. To ask this sorts of questions u have to learn and study why?
Its rather for u to asked why god create heart? why God create lung. Why God make us feel hungry and wanna pee or ****, or to feel pleasures while doing sex? Why can't god simply makes us feel full every time as we dont have to works to gain money to buy foods to eat?
Evolution... yes there are evolutions, but WHO ALLOW AND MAKE EVOLUTIONS TO HAPPEN? cromosom? molecule? alga? Animals? WHO MADE THE CREATURE TO BE EVOLVED?
Since u asked unnecessary questions, u should just pray to God to make u free from any need(to eat,to pee, to have sex, to have kids, to even breath!!) thats better!
