You can either hire a private car or can take Connecticut Limo. The only difference with a private car is besides being "private" that car will take you from your house directly to your destination. If you use Connecticut Limo they have "port stops" along the way where you can get on or off. You will not have a direct route. It would be equivalent to being on a train which is a "local" and stops at every town (or port of call) versus an "express" train which goes directly to the end destination without any other stops along the way.

take the train. Seriously, Grand Central is way more convenient than any of the airports. LaGuardia is the smallest airport, JFK is the closest to downtown, I think, but its still pretty far out (none are in Manhattan) and will cost $30 in cab fees. Don't even check Newark, which is in New Jersey and way out of the way.
