For me yes this is true. We are pieces of the conscious energy. We interacted with each other and the environment and we learn from these experiences. As we learn and grow so does that conscious energy(God). All life is in service to that energy's growth and expansion.

We all belong to God. Does he need us for information? Nope we are part of a grand design and that design was sparred from His desire to share His love with us. Does God need us at all? Nope He does not. He chose us.
