Henna can accually kill your hair folicules and make your hair fall out and turn brassy and gross. I'm a hair stylist, i'd really suggest not doing it, I mean, if you like the concept of being bald, then go ahead, otherwise, think about using something else.

I have been using henna in my hair, every 6 weeks or so, for the last 4 years. It does not kill your hair follicles or make your hair fall out !!! I don't know where this person is getting her info from !!! However, the other hairstylist is correct. If you ever want to have chemical hair colour, or a perm or something, you can't. And you can't strip it either, you'll have to let it grow out.

Anyway, to actually answer your question... No, you do not have to have shampooed, towel dried hair.

I find it works best when your hair is clean (i.e. not greasy, and you haven't used any waxy products on your hair) and dry.

As I said, I've been using henna for a long time, and consider myself somewhat of an expert from all the trial and error. If you want application and preparation tips, let me know, I'll be happy to help :)

When you use Henna paste on hair , Leave it to be dried , After that Take it off with water , and then apply Shampoo .You can apply conditioner too .
But henna itself works as conditioner for hair !
As above answers say that henna is dangerous , its not (UNTIL it does not contain chemical ) .If you use Pure Henna ,without chemicals or additives .It is fine then .This is very common in Indo -Pak Subcontinent .Hope you know that .Here we can get pure henna or Mehndi!
We also add Amla ,Reetha , and Shika Kai paste in the mixture

Sidra
