There is a free (open source) PDF creator tool that you can download. Once you download it and install the application, you will open up the word file and "print" and select the PDFCreator option and it prompt you to save to pdf. You create the pdf and you got your word document as a pdf file.

PDFCreator-0_9_1_AFPLGhostscript_32bit.msi application to store.

I have Microsoft Word 2003, and I can save a file in Word as a .pdf by enclosing the file name in quotes and putting .pdf after it. Open your document in Word, go to File, Save As, and in the file name field, enter "Docname.pdf" with the quotes, or whatever you want to call it.

OpenOffice has the feature built in to save as pdf, and is compatible with MSOffice files.

It's also free and open source.

It's a little bit of a round-a-bout way of doing it, since you already have MSOffice, but it works, and you might end up liking OpenOffice.
