Yes, but don't cut them TOO short. Your baby uses them.

Do Cat Whiskers Grow Back

2016-09-28 08:47:53 · answer #2 · answered by ? 4 · 0 0

Their whiskers will grow back. The base where the hair grows is super sensitive to let the cat know if she has bumped into anything. The hair whisker itself does not have any feeling.
To demonstrate run a finger just above the skin of your forearm where you have a bit of hair. You will be able to (just barely) feel the movement. This is what your cat uses her whiskers for-- though obviously her whiskers are more sensitive to pressure.
By having your cats whiskers shortened it has muffled these sense-- much like if you were to put in ear plugs.
Happily though her whiskers will grow back. In the mean time make sure your cat (and daughter) do not get into further trouble.

My son also cut off our cat's whiskers at a young age. Before long our cat had her whiskers long again. She was embarrassed and hid for a while. Son was punished. I agree that there is no feeling in the whisker. The whiskers vibrate and the cat feels these sensations at the base of the whisker in the follicle. The cat also uses the whiskers to tell if he can fit in a space. The whiskers are usually the width of the cat.

Whiskers will grow back but make sure that they aren't cut again. A cat's whiskers are there for balance and space perception. cutting them can put them off balance.

They will grow back eventually. It takes time, but kitty will be fine!

She may seem like she's a little off balance until they grow back, because having her whiskers cut throws off her equilibrium but she'll be fine.

My cat burned a bunch of her whiskers because she was trying to sniff a lit candle, and she was fine. They grew back!

yes
they are like any other animal that grows hair. if you cut off their hair it will grow back same with whiskers but i dont suggest cutting them because they use them as feelers when its dark.
my step brothers decided to take a beard trimmer to my cat and my moms cat. shes not with their dad any more and so she dont have to worry about those little brats.
but anyways kids will be kids just let the cat alone for a while and it will be fine

Yeah they will grow back.

I have 3 cats and it's weird because I will just find a wisker laying around the house. Wiskers are just hairs....so yeah they will grow back.

Despite the response below, the hair does not have feeling, it's the folicle that has feeling. I mean the damage is done now, there's nothing she can do about it....just try to prevent it from happening in the future.

They'll grow back in time. Until then, the cat might have problems with fitting through openings and such as they use them for measurement.

It might also be a bit skittish for a while.

yes, but having no whiskers will throw off your cat's balance. They use their whiskers to determine if they can fit through holes, crevises etc..
