It's saying that pretty much all pretty people are ugly on the inside and all ugly people are beautiful on the inside.I mean, Hitler was one hell of an ugly dog and to say he didn't have much inner beauty would be the understatement of the century.Same goes for a lot of beautiful celebrities who are beautiful on the inside too.I resent the implication that al ugly people are beautiful on the inside because the way their looks affect their lives is more than likely going to make a lot of them bitter and spiteful.

The movie wasn't trying to make the point that ugly people are pretty and it isn't possible for an attractive woman to be a good person. It was just trying to send the message "beauty isn't skin deep" Movies tend to exaggerate things so that the simple minded can understand too. And yes a lot of ugly people are bad people. But I mean in the movie not all the women changed, only the drastic examples.

I agree. All people are different. A person can be beautiful inside and out or ugly inside and out or anywhere in between. Shallow Hal was just a movie and they were trying to prove a point. It was exhaggerated in order to get that point across and have entertainment value. It's surprising how often people do forget that a beautiful person can be bad and an ugly person can be great. I think the purpose was just to make that point, not to go any farther into it.

i think it is typecasting ppl that brings about ignorance...
there are beautiful ppl who are beautiful inside.. but they are in a way limited until ofcourse they understands that it is not all about looks and learn to respect others for their personality than looking at the size of their nose..orsomething like that..

and you are right that many of the least gifted ones to have beautiful faces (like me ;-) are bitter and spiteful... which probably would be a small percentage ...as most of us are ready to give importance to the personality than about looks...
