This has probably been asked before. I have yet to see a creationist who studied evolution in depth (not just reading articles from Answers in Genesis) and said that it's a false theory. The King James Bible is a translation of a translation of the Bible using outdated words that have meanings that changed over time. The passage that says that the world was created in six days can be translated as six long periods of time in Hebrew. Pull your heads out of your arses, you can believe the Bible and evolution! The King James Bible has inconsistencies with earlier versions of the Bible.

Also, I am sick of people complaining about atheists controlling everything. Most of the people saying this are from the U.S. WHAT THE HELL?? All three branches of government are controlled by Christians! Is an invisible government made up of atheists controlling us or something? Grrr, you know, I give up, I'm moving to Chile.

And I'm not talking about believing intelligent design. I don't mind if people believe that -- that's just God applied to evolution (albeit, it shouldn't be taught in schools) -- but creationism. Come on.

And just because evolution is "beat into our brains since elementary school" doesn't mean that you've studied it and understood it. My father was taught evolution in school, but said it was impossible and stupid until I explained it to him. He had learned about evolution, but he didn't understand it. As soon as he understood it, he believed in evolution.

Actually, I have a bachelors in Physics and studied evolution in great detail. It is through that extensive study that I came to the conclusion that it must be wrong and that all things were created by an intelligent being by design.

As for your example about the "long periods" instead of days... Did God create the plants in one "long period" and wait a really long time before creating the animals later??

You also say that all branches of government are controlled by Christians, but I have to say that they aren't making very many Christ-like decisions.

I am definitly a Creationist Christian, however, I don't throw out evolution altogether. Whether the world was created in six literal earthly days or not is not an issue of salvation.

Here is my take on it though.

Time was not even established until the fourth day of creation, note below:

Gen. 1
14 And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so. 16 God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.

It also says throughout the Bible that Gods time differs from ours. So what is 1 day to God could be 1000's to us.

I don't think the earth is millions or billions of years old, I think maybe 15 - 20K, but again, I don't know.

As far as the Big Bang goes, it could have happened like it is scientificly explained, however, something or someone rather, had to cause it. Many Scientist now support the Intelligent Design explanation, which does not necessarily rule out all phases of evolution. It points out that a supreme knowledge had to have put together such a finally tuned Universe.

Read "The Case for The Creator" by Lee Strobel, some really good explainations, arguements, theories, proofs.

Hey, tell you what--I have, and so have many others. Let's see what scientific laws would have to be suspended for evoultion to be possible...

Law of Entropy (systems tend from order to disorder) & Law of Conservation of Matter and Energy (neither can be created or destroyed)--contrary to athestic view of universe's origin
Law of Biogenesis (only life begets life, and that after its kind)-- contrary to athestic view of origin of life & General Theory of Evolution
Principle that says for every effect there must be an ADEQUATE cause-- there must be a first cause for the universe's existence

In point of fact, evolution is a theory that cannot be proven by the scientific method, since the creation of matter and life are things that can be neither observed nor tested, nor can evolution across species (note evolution within a species does NOT prove evolution of one species into another).

The Bible account creation and evolution are incompatible & cannot be reconciled. The earth was created in 6 literal days. The KJV does contain words that have changed since 1611, but "day" is not one of them-- the text says "the evening and the morning were the 1st day." The word you say "can be" translated as something other than "day" is not translated any other way throughout the scriptures, and that consistency carries through Genesis. Elsewhere in the Bible where a long period of time is meant, a different word is used.

Okay lets begin!
Religion is false, it's the hope we desperately cling to when the world attacks our faith. But it's FAITH not religion that one needs to enter into the kingdom of God. Till judgment day there will be arguments on how the world was created and how God had a son how Christ walked on water... ...People of any religion should accept that theirs may not be the truest religion and make room for others, after all we are all human(well most of us anyway) and we all need the same things and all desire to enter into a heavenly place.
Evolutionists say the heard the big bang. Creationists said they heard the voice of God say "let there be light". Christians judge others though they fear judgment. in the end there will be only one important question and one right answer and that's all that matters!

oh and about that atheist thing. It's about the Nation as a whole taking away the freedoms of the religious. No prayer in school, no more "In God we trust". Though this government was founded by nearsighted, Christian prudes, it's being taken over by nearsighted atheist morons... ...(shrug) whats a country to do?

Evolutions is beat into our brains from elementary school, so I've studied it. Kind of like the lie that is told when they say that Columbus discovered America (hmmm, kind of fishy seeing as the Indians were already here, don't need to study that in depth to know that it's a bit fabricated). I can ask you the same question? How much do you really know about the bible?

The bigger question really has nothing to do with Evolution vs Creation...on Judgment day God is not going to ask you how you felt about how the world was created, he is going to ask you what you did with his son Jesus! So, what are you doing with Jesus? Is he the Son of God, do you believe that he died on a cross for the sins of mankind? Did you except him as you personal Lord and Savior? If yes, great! He will help straighted all the things about creationism and evolution in your mind. If not, you need to and he will help straighten out all the stuff about creationism in your mind.

Also, just because someone claims to be a Christian doesn't mean they are. I will say that until I'm blue in the face because I'm tired of being lumped in with Bush and his team.

"Intelligent design" says that complexity = must have been designed. The problem is there are plenty of complicated things that have clearly evolved. The English language is very complicated, but it wasn't invented on a Tuesday night by a clever person. It has evolved and adapted, and is still doing so. The modern bicyle wasn't created out of nothing by an intelligent designer. It has been through a process of adaptation, improvement. The modern telephone is the result of a long process going from primitive to sophisticated. Even in things that man makes and designs, there is a process of evolution! The survival of the viable.

Intelligent design claims to refute evolution, but it can never manage this, because even designed things evolve.

You simply haven't met or found anyone that has done their research yet. I haven't heard the comment about atheists controlling anything.

Anyone who says they believe something should be able to back it up and I agree with you; creationists should study evolution. I'm a creationist, have read books, listened to lectures at my former university, and determined it would take more faith for me to believe in evolution then creation.

I do not believe in theistic evolution as you suggested as a belief.
I agree with most of the answers from this site.

Some aspects of the evolution theory are humorous to me.
A couple recent examples that I find humorous are this article
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,198924,00.html
Read the quote "complex biological compounds assembled by chance out of an organic broth on the early Earth's surface." Everything complex forming by chance isn't logical.

And this article

So I was once a lump of dirt.

I think many evolutionists are afraid of the existence of God. Nobody wants to be accountable for their own actions. What a depressing life to live when you originated from goo, changed into a mound of dirt, became a monkey, now have no purpose, and will die into a neverending non-existence.

I dont know about everyone else but I believe in God and in the theory of evolution. I believe that God created the small organisms that the world was once filled with knowing that they would evolve. I am not your typical Christian. I don't follow the bible to a tee, in fact I havent even read the whole thing. I believe in being a good person and doing right in the world. I dont believe in typical Christian ideals like "gay people are evil" and the like. When it comes to people in the US saying atheists control things, I can only say I dont think that is the case. However I am tired of atheists telling us that we shouldnt have phrases like "In God we trust" on our money, or that the ten commandments shouldnt be displayed in state or government buildings. The fact is this country was founded on the belief in God by Christian people. God is part of our country whether you like it or not. Isn't it easier to just ignore little things like phrases on our currency, and the ten commandments in our buildings, than to complain and file lawsuits. A vast majority of Americans believe in God, if you don't like that maybe you should go somewhere else.

I'm not sure why they don't study it, though I have met a few who have and they accept it. Just seems they ignore what a thing really is because they feel it attacks their beliefs somehow. To say that if Evolution is true then there can't be a God, just doesn't seem like a logical argument. Or the argument that since (or if, as you please) there is a God, then Evolution must be false. I'm not sure how they come up with these ideas.

Interesting question! I'm not religious, but I suspect that fundamental Christians are conditioned to not use critical thinking as this would lead to their religion being subjected to scrutiny and questioning that it could not withstand intact. To be fair, critical thinking is a dying art in the populace at large, and is not a trend confined to Creationists. It's all about dogma, likely. If they study the Theory of Natural Selection then their fundamentalist faith would be shot to pieces and that is too frightening a thought. They don't consider that Natural Selection could quite nicely coexist with a belief in God.
