By definition half of the people out there will have an IQ of greater than 100 and half below 100. Therefore your child is above average. It is sort of like asking if having brown eyes are good. It just is.
A very high IQ can be helpful in life, but there are plenty of other things that can predict success. Motivation, creativity, emotional intelligence quotient, and perserverance to name a few things will be much more important than an IQ measurement. It is just a convenient thing that can be measured.

The average IQ is 100 no matter what age you are (the score is worked out by comparing the number of correct answers to other people of the same age). So 112 is an above average score. Well done.

100 is normal, 130 & up is genius. I.Q. test results should not vary much with age, or what type of classes they study, or how hard they study. Some children have been known to stop excelling in school, or quit doing homework if it isn't challenging enough
