I mean seriously so many people have problems they diddnt have when they were dating. Most just end up in divorce. Why do you think someone would go so far as to tie the knot??

the reason they have more problems after they get married is because dating is so surface and you can ignore those issues. thing is, those issues don't 'just appear'; they were always there. i would tie the knot if i knew i'd die for the person i was with and liked the idea of being paired with him for the rest of my life (which means i'm not taking the decision lightly).

i don't want to be in a relationship with someone and never get married. where is the commitment? everything is all about the best-thing-right-now and instant gratification. how lovely it is for ppl to not tie the knot so they are free in case something happens or something better comes along. maybe it's better they stay single, as 'for better or for worse' is not something they particularly value.

Marriage is a very serious matter. It ends in divorce alot these days due to couples jumping into it to quickly or without enough knowledge about eachother. If a couple has a very strong bond and are willing to work EVERYDAY at building it it is a worthwhile commitment. The problem is that usually only one person like s to really work at it and it takes two. I can not speak for everyone but I got married because I loved my husband with all my heart and knew I was going to spend the rest of my life with him, unfortunately he was not willing to work at our marriage. You just have to be very choosy and think about what that person will be like in the future.

If sex were only within marriage and people didn't cheat, I don't think you would be asking this question. It is all about caring about someone not just jumping in bed. Then being loyal to one another through thick and thin. Then having all your children with the one man that you have always loved. There will be problems with anyone you are with. When you love someone, you work those problems out.

They want to settle down, and think that they can trust their partner. Some can, and they're married for 40+ years. Some can't and are worried about themselves, so the marrage falls through, and they were only together for 3 months.

They think they are getting married for the right reasons.... Wait and see if you truly love someone and love together...then if that works then hopefully the marriage will work

Well, I would want to get married because I want to spend the rest of my life with the man I love, and to become his wife.

i share in your thoughts.

i'm not totally sold on the marriage thing. think i am too free spirited to settle down like that just yet. i think if you have been together a while and feel married in your heart, then thats good enough for me. if it's not broke, why fix it?
