Depends on how you like it, I suppose. You can just do a plain fruit salad, cutting up the fruit and mixing it together in a bowl. I like to use grapes, oranges, apples, strawberries, bananas and sometimes pineapple. You can also make a creamy fruit salad by mixing all of the fruit together and adding some yogurt, either vanilla or fruit-flavored, and mixing it together. I only add the yogurt just before serving, as it can sometimes make the fruit (especially the berries and bananas) go a little soft. But it's very tasty!

LOL. NO NO NO!
Fruit salad doesn't involve lettuce. A salad doesn't need lettuce to be a salad. A good recipe is:
Chop up some watermelon, pineapple, cantaloupe, honeydew, and strawberries. Mix that together with blueberries, red and green grapes. Tada, you have a fruit salad.
Another kind is adding chopped up apples.

EASIEST EVER FRUIT SALAD:
1-30 oz. can fruit cocktail, drained*
1-11 oz. can mandarin oranges, drained*
1- 20 oz. can pineapple chunks, do not drain*
2 firm bananas, sliced approx. 1 in. thick, optional
1 box instant vanilla pudding *
Combine all ingredients, stirring until dry pudding moisture is fully incorporated into the fruit mixture. Salad will appear to be runny, but will thicken as the pudding absorbs the pineapple juice. Chill for at least 1/2 hour or overnight. Stir before serving.
If salad sits for longer than 4 hours before serving, I have found that it is best to add the optional sliced bananas just before serving, as they will brown slightly, however, it will only affect the appearance, not the flavor of the salad if the bananas darken.
Variations include adding other canned or fresh fruits, using another flavor of pudding mix, such as lemon, coconut, banana, etc. When my children were younger I would add marshmallows or shredded coconut, or even chopped nuts.

You don't need a recipe; just put in your favorite fruit.
You can try cut apples, oranges, and raisons and put brown sugar over it.
You can try pineapple, watermelon, grapes, kiwi, and starfruit together.
You could do bananas, grapes, apples, and oranges.
You could do strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, cherries, and blackberries.
You can combine canned fruit, like pears, pineapple and mandarin oranges.
You can add marshmallows, walnuts, raisons, sunflowers seeds, or chocolate to nearly any fruit salad. Keep in mind that if some items aren't eaten soon, they can get soggy.
You can add fruit pieces into Jello as you're making it. It's no longer a fruit salad, but still tastes great.
You can put the salad inside of half of a hollowed-out watermelon.. or make a "watermelon basket"; you could also put it inside a hollowed-out canteloupe or honeydew.
You can skewer fruit on bamboo sticks and make fruit shish-ka-bobs.
Just be creative! Use whatever fruit you'd like!

Wow. There are so many ways. For something simple you can just put some peaches on a leaf of iceburg. From there you can just do a mix of all fruit (put some lemon juice in there to keep from browning). Then there are the more involved ones where marshmallows and cream are involved.
Here is a simple favorite of mine:
1 single serving vanilla yogurt
a few dashes of cinnamon or nutmeg
1-2 handfuls of raisins or currants
some slivered nuts
3 chopped apples (try using 3 different types - I don't recommend red apples as they are rather soft)
Mix together and you're done.

there is not any longer some thing i love more effective than a fluffy, creamy, and sweet Ambrosia Fruit Salad or Pistachio Fruit Salad. both recipes will be searched and revealed at this commonplace website yet I make it for most activities in the course of the three hundred and sixty 5 days. i believe a lot less responsible about indulging in a dessert if it has nutritious and scrumptious fruit.

I make my fruit salad with a lot of different types of fruit and it really doesn't matter what type of fruit you use, but no it's not fruit on lettuce. You can use cool whip and marshmellow fluff, add your fruit and toss together and refridgerate, your done, some people use helmanns real mayonaise, but I think it taste better with the other ingredients that I mentioned above.

I always just cut up fruit I thought would taste good together, along with nuts and raisons, and put them in a bowl. No lettuce in there.
Also, as a helpful hint: My mother always adds a few tablespoons of oragne juice. The orange juice will stop the fruit from turning brown as quickly as it would otherwise.

We start with a bag of the tiny spring greens you can find at any grocer, and wash them good. You can buy a tub of already cut, fresh mixed fruit in your produce section, too, but I usually cut my own. I put red seedless grapes, pineapple, gala apples, kiwi, strawberries if I can get them, blueberries, and sometimes I will add pecan halves or pieces. Add fruit to lettuce bed, add shredded cheese if you like, and drizzle with a raspberry walnut or pecan vinegrette. Yummy!! It's great in hot weather when nothing heavy fits the bill, and it travels well and can be set up at a picnic quickly.

When we do fruit salad, we just cut up different fruits and put them in a bowl. We put in whatever fruit we feel like at the time, or whatever is on sale at the store.
