No system or profession is perfect, and our government certainly has its faults, but a nation's armed forces are an important and necessary element. I think ours does as good a job as possible with the legislature that governs it. The top brass is accountable to the President and certain Cabinet members, who make policy.

My husband is a 30 year Army veteran, so the Army has been responsible for 1/2 of our family's income, and almost all of our family's insurance and retirement benefits.
The Army has taken my husband away 4 times to fight on foreign soil. He is currently serving his second tour of duty in the Middle East, this time in Iraq. I am proud to be a military spouse, I'm also fearful that my husband will be wounded or will become a
fallen soldier, but it's a choice we've made. We support our nation's military, most of the soldiers are just regular people doing their jobs the best they can.

I think our military are a bunch of the greatest people on earth. They're doing a very difficult job, seeing and doing things that the average person would never face. Yes, they should get a raise. They should be better taken care of by the V.A. hospitals too. I think that our politicians should have to have the same kind of life that our soldiers have. Drive only in jeeps. Sleep in barracks. Eat in cafeterias. Dress in military dress. Get military pay. Serve their 4 years and go home. I'd vote for that! Sure would make those suits sit up and take notice! As to which branch rocks...my man is a Navy man...did his tour in Viet Nam. <*)))><

Coming from a girl who loves a man who did four tours with the Marines I think my answer will be pretty obvious. Not a day goes by that i am not proud of him and what they all do. These men go out there on a daily basis and put their lives on the line for what, US. Along with the good comes the bad but over all we would not be here if not for them and with that I stand strong and tall knowing the man I love, loves this country that much.

They are all wonderful things and for the most part wonderful people doing what more of us should do for our country. I think we would be in a much better place politically if everyone had to spend time in the military. I think we also need more people in each branch of the military but that is the problem with doing a voluntary military, you never get as many as you want.

They are all awesome!! They deserve credit each and everyone of them! My dad was in the Navy for 20 years, one of my step fathers (may he rest in piece) was in the Air Force for 20 years, my step father (now) was in the Marines for 15 when he left because his wife passed away and he had to raise 2 children on his own, both my husbands father and step father served in the army. So I know someone from every branch and they are all awesome!!
Our son is 6 months old and we hope that he grows up to join the Marines. He already has several little Marine outfits, hats, and bibs. My husband tried to join the Marines but he was under weight, he was disappointed that he couldn't join and tried everything to gain weight but had no luck.

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A suicide bomber killed at least 10 people inside a Shi'ite mosque in Baghdad on Friday, police said, a day after the national security adviser said al Qaeda's days are numbered in Iraq.

He blew himself up as worshippers gathered for prayers at the Buratha mosque, an old site which is revered by Shi'ites. Twenty-five people were wounded.

It was the type of violence that the new leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, who succeeded the slain Abu Musab al-Zarqawi last week, had vowed to maintain as part of a war against Iraq's Shi'ites and the U.S.-backed government.

Mosque guard Abdullah Hussein said the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber who had hidden explosives

I doubt anybody that dislikes the military will post to this question. As for me, I am a veteran of 30+years ago and when I see what the military does today - with fewer people - I am amazed. This is the best bunch of young people in the country (or out). The leadership is amazing as well. I salute them all.

Our men and women in the US military are out there everyday putting their lives on the line in the name of freedom and democracy. We owe them our thanks and our prayers. Too many people are focused on the political side of war. Regardless of whether or not a war is just or being fought for the "wrong" reasons, our warriors are ready to answer the call 24-7. If the US were attacked by a military force on our own soil the same military that is fighting the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc would be leading the fight to protect our rights and freedoms. I for one will never question the need for our men and women in uniform. I salute them.

Omg there are so many words to describe the military right now.

I respect each and everyone of them, Those men and women are doing things that I know my scared butt would be to afraid to do.
When I think of all the women and men who have fought or are fighting for our country I think of nothing but love for each and everyone of them. They are the reason that everyone in America are free and there are no way we will ever be able to repay them back.

So people next time you see a veteran or anyone in the military go up to them and shake their hand and tell them thanks for what they did for our country.
