go to the explorer's page where your media is. Right click on it, click on "open with" , select W Media Player from the list and check the box that says always use this for this type of files.

If you are using WMP 10, right click at the top and select:
Tools-->Options. Then select the "File Types" tab. Here, you can select which file types you want to be defaults for WMP.

right click the media
then click properties and then sellect windows media as default for that type of media

for xp, click start, set programs access defaults,select custom, then select wmp as your default player,click ok

open windows media player... go to tools, then options, files types, and check all the boxes there... and then press okay.

go to control panel -> add and remove programs -> set program access and defaults

sometime just go start button and there will have program "set program access and defaults"

go to program access and defaults and set default settings to wmp , you can get their from startmenu.
