You have a base rate of calorie burning that your body does without you doing any work. Mine is about 1500. So thats what you can start with. So you need to burn more than that to lose weight. It's easier to think of it in a week span. You need to burn 3,500 calories to lose a pound. you cannot possibly do that in one day (unless you run a marathon or something). So if you think about burning an extra 500 or so calories from your daily diet that adds up. So you could cut out 2-300 calories from your diet (were eating 2000, cut down to 1800-1600) and then workout and burn 2-300 calories (or more if you can). So if you burned/cut out 500 calories a day for a week, you would lose a pound a week. I guess if you wanted to lose faster you would cut out more, but thats not very safe.

Your body is going to burn at least 1000 calories a day even if you work at an office job. If you can keep your calories around 1000 a day eat lots of fiber you will burn more than you take in and loose weight. Try walking for 30hr at a good pace or jogging for 20min. Loosing 1 to 2 pounds a week is the best way to do it and it makes it harder to put it back on.

not at all, your body burns most of what you eat in its every day functions. Think about it. You burn calories when your running cause your leg muscles are working, but your heart is a muscle and it works 24/7. When you get on your treadmill you see it counting calories but anywhere from 200-400 calories is a good calorie burn for your shorter workout. Remember your muscles will continue burning calories for about 12 hours after your workout.

Yes but you do burn calories by doing nothing...it takes calories just sitting on the couch. That is a good amount of calories to take in so if you just do 30 mins of exercise a day you should ge tthe results you want.

Dont go by numbers!! For all u know, the label on the food packets or the number ur treadmill shows is not exact at all!!
Eat a balanced healthy meal cutting out the junk..I'm sure u know whats healthy with all the discussion thats been on..
And do an hour of exercise everyday religiously.
This will help u stay fit..

Of course, but the real trick in loosing weight is eating the 1,500 calories and keeping your metabolism over and above burning 1,500 per day.

Once your body 'feels' like it's not getting enough calories, it's starts to 'save' it's energy. So let's say a no-diet day you burn 2,000 calories, when after 3 days of dieting at 1,500, your body metabolism starts to work slower, and you don't really notice it. That same type of day where you used to 'burn' 2,000, you now only burned 1,750.

Ouch, diet the 1,500 calories, and try to keep you metabolism 'burning' 2,000 per day.

How about just walking in the morning and getting your Body started burning them faster and longer all day. Drink water before you walk, do not eat until you are done walking in the a.m. only! Walk at a good pace, build up to 30 Min's. Walk and talk with someone. At times walk faster so you can't talk. Some push-ups after and stretching will also help you- your engine.
