You will find it nowhere in the bible. It was an invention of the Catholic church in the Council of Trent in the 1500's to get people to give more money to get their loved ones out of Purgatory so they could be in Heaven. The church needed more money at that time so it was a way to get some in as was the indulgence system. Before that time, even the Catholic church did not teach anything about it. Look it up in the Catholic encyclopedia if you have any doubts. Do a search on purgatory and then one on indulgence and you will see it for yourself. Not in the bible but only in the Catholic teachings. And that was only after the 1500's.

there is no specific verse where it talks about pergatory. Pergatory is believed to be a place the someone enters after they die such that if they have un confessed sins, their sins are confessed by those that are alive and they enter heaven. so basically it's supposed to be like a waiting room of some sort. people like to use the parable the jesus gave about lazarous and the rich man who died and went to hell and lazarous went to heaven.
but the bible doesn't talk about it. the bible says that when we die, we are in a sleep state and don't know what is happening on earth.
there goes the theory of ghosts and spirits down the drain.

The Bible never says nething about pergatory. Whoever thought that up was demonically influanced. It says God hates lukewarmness. He said that I would rather u be hot or cold, you are neither, therefore you are lukewarm and I spew u out of my mouth. There is no place called pergatory. There is no place between Heaven and Hell.

Question: "What does the Bible say about purgatory?"
Answer: There is an interesting booklet about Purgatory. It is a small brochure entitled: “Everything the Bible has to say about Purgatory.” Open up the brochure and there is absolutely nothing inside. The Bible never mentions anything even remotely similar to Purgatory. Jesus died to pay the penalty for all of our sins (Romans 5:8). The idea that we have to suffer for our sins after death is contrary to everything the Bible says about salvation. Jesus suffered for our sins so that we would not have to (2 Corinthians 5:21).
Catholics do not derive the concept of Purgatory from the Scriptures. Instead it comes from one of the Apocryphal books, 2 Maccabees. In 2 Maccabees 12:38-46, Judas Maccabee orders that sacrifices be offered in the Temple in Jerusalem for slain Jewish soldiers who had worn pagan amulets. Some people have seen this story as biblical justification for the teaching on purgatory, and it is the passage the Catholic Church uses to justify the doctrine and practice of praying for the dead.
The primary Scriptural passage Catholics typically point to for evidence of a purgatory is 1 Corinthians 3:15, which says, “If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames.” The passage (1 Corinthians 3:12-15) is using an illustration of things going through fire as a description of believers’ works being judged. If our works are of good quality “gold, sliver, costly stones” they will pass through the fire unharmed. If our works are of poor quality “wood, hay, and straw” they will not pass through the fire and we will not be rewarded for them. The believer whose works are all burned up will still be saved, but all their works will be burned up and only the believer themselves will escape through the flames. This does not mean a believer literally must go through flames – it is only an illustration of God judging our works.

Nah, I think pergatory is the rationalization of the church for Sheol of the OT.
Sheol =/= Hell

First of all it might help to know how to spell it. Try looking for purgatory definition search, but not in the Bible. Purgatory is a man made thing. The Bible speaks of heaven and hell, and of being SAVED before you die. Purgatory is for people to pray your sins away after you die. An example of this is when the pope died, people prayed for him. To late to pray after your dead, your soul has already departed from this world.

This is not in the bible,
When you die, you either die in Christ or Not
Heaven or Hell
1 The dead in Christ will rise first
2 Then the live in Christ will rise
There is no in between, as far as I get out of the bible, but if you can prove it in the KJV email me I want to know..

I think it's only mentioned once, and that was before Jesus' death and resurrection. I don't believe it's a Biblical truth. Jesus told the thief on the cross beside him that he would be with him in paradise that day. There is no waiting room, which is how people describe purgatory.

Purgatory is not mentioned in the Bible. It was introduced into the Catholic church hundreds of years ago. As far as I know, the Catholics are the only church that recognize this belief.
