You'll have to watch him every second (assuming he walks good), unless you have a camper you can lock him in! It's easy for toddlers to get lost in the woods. If you have a play pen he can't get out of it would help. Of course he'll eat dirt and anything else he can get a hold of.

There is no reason why you can not enjoy the great outdoors with a toddler, potty trained or not. The real question is what is the maturity and metality of this toddler? And how prepared are you for getting rid of the waste left behind and cleaning up after you and your child? Nature can get rid of a lot of things that are biodegradable, but there are still certain things that need to be put into trashcans and not left for others to find...
If the child is into exploring and willing to listen and not run away from you then there should be no problem spending time outdoors over night with the little one. My daughter who also turns 2 next month loves to be outdoors and has her own little sleeping bag. She does great, buy my nephew who is only 3 days younger than my daughter... thats another story. He is raised to be an indoor person because his family does not like to be outdoors in the sun and heat.... He is raised on A/C and TV, not my choice of a life but some people just perfer this form...
Take a good look at your toddler and think - is he or she ready for this? Only you can really know.

I would think that it depends on your child. I have a two year old niece that is quite a hand full. I took her camping with me and regretted every minute of it. It was hard dealing with her "energy" when I was trying to really just enjoy camping.
You just have to ask yourself if your child is ready for the open outdoors and are you willing to spend a lot of your time chasing him/her around. As far as potty training goes, I think that it could be put off until after the trip.

It depends on the child. It sure will be a full-time job for somebody to keep an eye on him/her so he/she doesn't wander off. I'm not sure what potty training has to do with it. Most camp grounds have a bathhouse and trash place. You'll just have to try to keep those Huggies or Pampers wrapped up tightly in several layers of plastic before you find a proper place to dispose of them. A portable dvd player and and extra battery and some Barney videos and favorite movies might be a good idea. Make sure there's plenty of healthy snacks and water for the child. And don't forget the child safe insect repellent and sunscreen.

taking a two year old camping can be a fun experience...however, constant supervision is required. Because your child is not potty trained isn't a factor in whether you take them camping or not...they have garbage facilities for diapers...besides it will be easier than running across the park everytime your child has to go to the bathroom...have fun on your camping trip and make memories for life with your child.

They'll love it! Just make sure they can't walk out of the tent during the night by putting a carrabena on the zip or something.
Also, it's easier if they're not potty trained anyway because getting shoes on to rush a child to the toilet block in the middle of the night isn't so much fun!

Your baby will have a blast!!! Don't worry about the potty trained part. It's easier to change the diaper then the older kids crying they have to go when you're working on something.

that depends on how much you are willing to do....my sister-in-law and her husband went camping with their 3 kids already and one was in a pack and play. The oldest was only 5 too. They had a tent that could fit a pack and play though and had tunnels connecting their sleeping area and the kids sleeping area. So it took a lot of equiptment. It also took a lot of patience on her part - but camping is something she loves and enjoys so it was worth the work and effort. you will have to decide that for yourself.

heck yeah. Take things that comfort him such as a blanket of stuffed animal he likes. Load up on bug spray and sun block and enjoy. DON"T FORGET THE SMORES! Just remember a post child camping trip is WAY different then a pre child trip.

It can work. . .but it's just that. . .WORK.
Depends on how primitive you go and how ready you are to watch every move. . .it won't be like at home where there are safe places that you can just let the child go for a while. Have to keep diapers in a bag plus can to keep animals out overnight. . .it'll reek by the time you get it to a place to be rid of it, but please don't leave diapers where they don't belong!!!!
I've taken my kids camping since they were 3 months old. It's work, but it's fun.
