My toddler loves to just sit in my closet with the shoes. when he comes out, he will be wearing one of my shoes and one of my husbands shoes, but he hates having to wear his own and their note to small for him. I don't know if this is normal or not, please help!
If it makes a difference, he can get them on the right feet most of the time.

Most toddlers like to wear their parents shoes. My son is two and he has been doing that since he could crawl. It is perfectly normal. My son also shuts himself up in our closet to play with the shoes. He doesn't like to wear his own shoes. I asked my pediatrician about that and she said to let him wear sandals or none at all, because sometimes regular shoes hurt toddlers, even if they are not too small.

Yes, it's normal! Children love to wear things, especially shoes, that belong to other family members. It's great fun to them, and they really like it when you laugh about the way they look in the shoes. As for not wanting to wear his own shoes, we used to make a game out of new shoes. My son would get a new pair, and then would try them on to see how fast the shoes would run. I know it sounds crazy, but he loved it! The fact that his shoes ran fast, always convinced him to wear them...go figure! Good luck!

I have lots of baby cousins and I look after them very often, so I had to get some info on them. considering some books and materials i've read, although none of them mentioned such a case, there are many cases of toddlers who put on their socks for themselves and get it right. so your baby is smart. when he will be around 5 years old, take him to a psychologist, who will test his IQ. and about the thing with the shoes and the closet, he feels safe and allright there because it smells like you and your husband. try putting his shoes between yours, in the same closet or in a very confined space, so they will smell alike. i have a strong feeling he will wear them without hating it, and he will slowly get used to wearing them without your smell too. Good luck!

My 22 month old loves to wear other people's shoes also. He will wear his own, but he thinks its funny to walk around in shoes that don't belong to him. We all get a big kick watching him trying to walk in my heels! My other boys did that during their toddler years also and they do out grow it soon enough.

While my son does not have any problem with wanting to wear his own shoes, he will put my or my husbands shoes on if he sees them. I think he just likes to emulate what he sees me and my husband wearing.

It's very normal..no need to worry. He's just playing. He just wants to be like mommy and daddy, which is a great thing.
