Well, sort of in terms of logic.

If you think about it, when you drink a cold drink it lowers you body temp momentarily, and then your body stops sweating, causing you to be hotter.

If you drink something hot then your body will try and cool itself down.

Does Tea Cool You Down

When I was little, my mum used to always say a cup of tea cooled you down when it was hot, and I always thought it was a seriously weird thing. I didn't drink tea at that age so I didn't know if it was true or not.

Now I do drink tea, but I don't find it cools me down, if I'm warm then a glass of water is far better. I don't know where that idea comes from, other than the fact that it is still fluid and so you will be better hydrated after drinking it. But not cooler.

I hear a lot of people say that if you drink a hot drink then it is suppose to cool you down on a hot day but I don't think that makes in sense. And as a fact, this morning it is already quit warm in the small office I work in and the air wasn't on yet. I had a cup of coffee and it wasn't long when I was starting to feel the heat more.

Hot, white tea does indeed cool the body's core temperature and detoxifies too. Other white tea benefits include:

lowest caffeine level of all teas
anti-aging and anti-stress properties
high L-theanine amino acid content promotes longevity and concentration

From your question, we could guess that it's a cup of cold tea, rather than hot.

But yes, a cup of cold tea would cool you down, while a cup of hot tea, above 98.6 F, would heat you up.
