you shouldn't have to, but b/c kids are kids...you will have to.
it's part of being a good mom and it's your kids part of being kids.

they will get it sooner or later.

try giving them a reward in their lunch if they do it without being asked!
if that doesn't work, then they'll learn their lesson after their first cavity!!!

take care and keep being a good mom!!! i see lots of moms neglect their kid's teeth and i think it's a shame.

Well, you would think after having brushed their teeth every day, twice a day for 8 (or 11) years that they could figure out that they have to brush their teeth. However, I have to remind my children every day also so it must be normal! We have tried pictures on the bathroom mirror, chore charts and more but nothing seems work except my telling them to get in there and brush ALL their teeth.

Well I'm 12 and I had to remember to brush my teeth because of my braces ( I still forget sometimes). But what my mom and dad did for me was to pt up a responsibility chart to do with my accomplishments of the week if I did all of my things everyday, (like brushing teeth 3x a day) I would get a present or money at the end of the week. It really worked!! Maybe you should try it!

If you have told trained them to brush their teeth in the morning since they got teeth, then I don't see why by this age you should still have to remind them.. I think that maybe once in a while, if they are being rushed they may forget. My 6 year old son brushes his teeth on his own. I still keep my eye on him to make sure he does. I check his toothbrush to see if it's wet or check his toothpaste to see if it's moved. There are times that he does forget, but that is because there's something good on the TV, or if we're rushing.. Then I have to remind him..

I'd say yes, likely so. In fact this is probably right about the time you are teaching them responsibility and habits like that for the long haul. There are plenty of kids older than that who don't "get" the tooth brushing thing on their own yet. Keep on top of your kids, teach them now, and it will serve them well going forward.

I still do. Mine are 11, 7 and 6. I remind them after school and before bed as well. They'll catch on eventually.

At there age it should be habit by now. However keep reminding them if you have to. Tell them each time that they only get one set of healthy adult teeth in their lifetime.

Yeah, you do. It's right there on the same list as make your bed, clean your room, do your homework and get in the shower. You know, I'm stopping here. This list goes on and on and on and I don't want my answer ending up being a blog.

thats normal, I know it can be frustrating, but reminding them every morning is better than letting them get away with not brushing their teeth!
