Serving court papers means dealing with people whose emotions can run high. Civil suits, divorce cases, domestic violence restraining order cases and such have a lot of drama associated with them.

If you take this job, make sure to not let it get personal for you. I'd recommend investing in a small digital voice recorder to document things that are said in the commission of your duties. Oh, and a t-shirt that says "Don't Shoot the Messenger"

No it isn't. You never know what kind of situation you are dealing with. Usually bad. You could get hurt bad. Or there is always a possibility that you might hurt someone in retaliation. Then you will get sued or go to jail. All said and done you would be better off to get a real job. Let the attorneys send their children out to serve the papers.

An honest day's work is always going to be worth it. You have to ask yourself "Am I going to be happy doing this?" We have all had jobs we didn't like and did them because we needed the money and there is nothing wrong with that. I myself and at a job right now I'd rather not be at, lol. Try it out, if it works great if not, oh well find something else. Good Luck!

It's not as easy as you think.

Most people who are to be served know about it, and become very hard to get. Others become aggressive when they are served and even try to get physical.

Often, you only get paid if you can prove you serve the person, so you end up chasing a guy for several days only to get paid $20 or $30 if you eventually find him.

Prepare for the worst: undeserving enemies, insults, threats, fights, fleeing servees, water and body fluids being thrown at you. Buy life and accident insurance. Wear a crash helmet, ear plugs, goggles, body armour, carry a hardened plastic shield. Serve the paper on a stick with a long handle about 1 mile long (out of gun range). Demand $1 million for each paper successfuly served without injury to you; $100,000 for each paper not served without injury to you; $500,000 for any injury; $10 million to you family in case of death. Good luck!

Terrible job - a job much like that of a re-possessor. No one wants to see you, you might get your butt kicked, you don't have a badge to back you up. The money isn't very good as well. I would find an easier profession.
