There are no problems with addiction in taking multivitamin pills on a regular basis. However, it is best to check with a doctor before doing so long term. This is because you may not be aware of systemic problems you may already have.
For example, if you have a high iron content in your blood, you should not be taking vitamin pills which contain iron. If you have kidney or liver problems, there are certain aspects of vitamin pills which could make these problems worse.
It is best if you are having specific problems with frequent colds to take pills containing Vitamin C for instance. If you are concerned about arthritis, for instance, then you would take a vitamin containing more calcium but it must also contain Vitamin D as Vitamin D helps your system absorb the calcium. Vitamin D is also provided by the sun. If a person does not get much sun for whatever reason, then they should be taking Vitamin D.
My concern for you regarding frequent colds is not so much that you should take vitamins but that you should look at what is really causing these colds. The best advice is to wash your hands with hot water and soap on a regular basis - 5-6 times per day is not too much.
This is because cold and flu germs are transmitted through hand contact more than anything. You may easily touch a doorknob or countertop that someone else with a cold has just touched or sneezed on and then the next thing you know, you perhaps touch your nose or eye areas and have already transmitted the cold or flu germs to yourself.
Persons with young children are the most likely to be exposed as young kids are constantly passing viruses to each other as they are not concerned with hand/mouth/eye contact and once again, you become easily susceptible to a cold or the flu because you in turn, wipe the child's nose or mouth and then forget to immediately wash your hands thoroughly before touching your own facial areas.
It still does not hurt to take a vitamin pill but do not take it for diet reasons. You should be eating properly also. Make certain you eat fresh vegetables, fruit and whole grains daily especially fruits and vegetables containing higher levels of Vitamin C such as oranges, apples, grapefruit, tomatoes, broccoli etc.
In the long run, eating properly and washing your hands on a frequent basis should reduce the occurrences of colds and even the flu over a long period of time.
Personally, I went without having even a cold (also had regular flu shots) for over fifteen years until just last summer when a family member was very ill with a bad cold. I just could not keep up with sterilization techniques and my body systems finally gave into it. But for me, this is rare obviously.
I hope this advice helps and if you take it and see your doctor or even a pharmacist about vitamin pills that are best for you, you should find that you are getting fewer viruses, whether colds or the flu.

Multi-vitamins are not magic drugs....they are not going to create immunity. They are nutrition supplements. Vitamins Can Ensure Daily Nutrition. The normal pressures of the modern world, along with deficiencies of essential daily nutrients, put our bodies under a tremendous amount of pressure. They don't have any side effects.
You body is going to absorb only the amount of nutrients it requires not an ounce more. So you don't have to worry about that. Of course, no addiction..
Vitamin C will help you ward off cold. It is there in most multi-vitamin tablets. It helps fight viral infections especially. But, multi-vit tabs are not the only source of Vitamin C -- orange and other citrus fruits are a good source.
If you want to increase your immunity -- multi-tabs are not the way to go. But, taking muti-tabs every day is very healthy and have good long term effects. There are many of these herbal medicine, which claim to increase immunity. (No scientific data support it though). A herb called echinacea is supposed to be very good immunity booster.
Eat healthy and nutritious food.and before start of flu season get flu shot.
During winter months eat foods with Vitamin C in it.

If you constantly feel cold during the day/night, eating vitamin isn't going to help. vitamin provides nutriental value to your body but does not boost your body function except in the field of digestion and immunity.
The constant feel of cold is due to various reason, for example slow blood circulation, which would be indicated by your doctor as low blood pressure, or a pre-symptom for the common cold.
The best course of action to boost your immunity and body function is exercise, you need to increase your cardiovascular capacity (air intake) to boost your circulation.
Exercise such as jogging, swimming or playing sport 2-3 times a week for a few month should get you back for good.

You can not physically get addicted to vitamins because your body expells what it doesn't need. As far as frequent colds maybe you have a low immune system.I use a product called "airborne" at the first symtoms of a cold,it seems to help.

Well if it is like many vitamins you only get at best a 10% absorption rate, most vitamins are not very effective. Look up Fructose Compounding to find vitamins that actually work!.

Yes...it will ruin your liver. Try giving it a rest for a week or 2, then continue.
