Just about all the OTC hemorrhoidal meds will temporarily shrink the tissue and stop the bleeding, unless the piles have gotten so distended that they come out quite a ways with every bowel movement or there is continuous bleeding, in which case you will need surgery. You should see a doctor to make sure it is not some other kind of problem if you have not been diagnosed with piles.

The OTC medications didn't help me. I got rid of my hemorrhoids with Rue Care Oil.
