I actually watched an excellent video on this in a college horticulture class (I want to assume it was NOVA, but I don't know). In this video, they had experiments set up by different men who claimed that plants are psychic, or that plants respond to prayer, or recognize people. Of course, even though these experiments got the results that were wanted (the plants that were prayed for did grow better, and the electrodes attatched to the plant did go beserk when the woman who smashed the neighboring plant walked by again), I think that there is not yet any way to really prove that plants have feelings. Not yet, anyway.

yes they do. i read an article in New scientist before which says that there was this experiment which proved that lettuces are able to feel human emotions. they had some equipment attached to the vegetable and when the guy who was doing the experiment got angry for some reason or another, the lettuce would react.

No plants doesn't have any affection watsoever. Plants don't have organs (brain) which are responsible for producing feelings.

Okay let me just ask you to do this. take two plants, water them daily, handle one extremely lovingly (with some soft touches) and not with the other one. see the difference in just a week.
Yes they have feelings....

it's an inanimate object. no. good question though. it can feel things as in tough though. and it will die if you do not give it water and enough sunlight. check the little ard thingy that sais how to take care of it for how much sunlight it needs. as for water, give it enough so that it is very moist but there is no water at the surface of the dirt.

plants do not have feelings in the same way as humans but yes they do respond to external stimuli in ways that has not been observed before...i think responses to music, even cigarette smoke, speech have been observed and documented..
