because they're not comfortable with who they are to tell the truth of how they really are. pathetic.

Not sure why they would being they have intentions of actually meeting with someone and they would obviously not be what the other person expected. However some people feel they are not adequate enough for what they want so they feel they need to make themself look more appealing. If people would just be honest on those ads they would see that they would actually find the right person because they are being honest about who they are and that will be what attracted someone else to their ad in the first place.

It is sad, but true that so many do. I guess for many different reasons. i would think that on line people would be more honest because they can feel free to be themselves and not have to deal with people around them that do not like them for one reason or another. I mean on line you meet all kinds of people so chances of finding someone who is closer to your own likes and dislikes would be a lot easier. I would think they would be proud of themselves enough to tell the truth. I mean if your a jerk then at least be proud that your a jerk and become the best possible jerk you can be.
I dont know about anyone else but my life is colorful enough without having to make crap up.

People think if they can lure you in with the the false ad long enough to get a date, thier winning personality will win you over and you won't care about the 73 extra pounds. But who wants to date a lier? :)

Why do people lie in general?? Lieing and cheating is an unfortunate part of life.
I guess they want to appear better online than they are in person.

Good question. To be who they are not and sooner or later the person you're lying to will figure it out. I am a firm believer that there is someone out there for everyone and if you are true to them and yourself you will find the "right" one and not have to put on a show. What it does is makes it hard for people who are genuine and sincere and want to make a real connection. Too bad there's not a site where you could put their real pic's or personality to cross reference if they're really jerks or jerkettes. lol.

Who would want to date sum1 if they said "i'm fat, sit on the couch the whole day, drinking beer and popcorn and hate going to work, or washing the dishes or having a daily bath", NO ONE!!!
So thats y they lie, they are ashamed to give out their true identity, they lack self esteem and have an inferiority complex.

The reason most people lie, I believe, is because they are unsure of themselves or they want themselves to sound just right to someone's profile they have read. It is my opinion that most people don't have enough faith in themselves to be totally honest and they believe if they build themselves up it will work out in the end.
