We are PCSing to Okinawa in Oct and have been told by other AF families that our dog should be on our orders. The problem we are having is that when my hubby went to hand in the paperwork so we can get our orders they told him they don't put pets on there. I don't understand whats going on because I know AF people who have had their pets on their orders, but they wont do it for us. Anyone know how we can get our dog on the orders????

I work in outbound assignments (where you get your orders) and we don't put anything on them about pets.

The military is not going to pay for your pets to be transported to an overseas location. Everything that goes on the orders - i.e TDY en-route, dependents - will be paid by the military.

I would look up different sites about traveling overseas with pets and see what the requirements are.
They are going to need vaccinations, and they will need to be quarantined for a certain amount of time.

the pet must be on your orders in order for it to be allowed on the AMC flight. you will still have to pay for it though.

BUT.. during certain times of the year, pets are not allowed to fly.. mostly in the hot summer months.

Then again, Regs may have changed(AGAIN) and AMC no longer allows furcritters on flights.

I actually didn't think that AMC would take pets. I know when we moved to Germany with our two cats, we had a government-paid commercial flight.
