things that stain teeth

Coffee, hot chocolate, and smoke are some major factors in staining teeth. Also, aging is a factor. The only way to keep your teeth from yellowing is to bleach them at a dentist office once in a while. What a difference it makes!!

First of all, do NOT brush you teeth with 100% peroxide!! Sheesh. Yes, there is Carbamide Peroxide in what the dentist has in his office whitening - but at 10% - very safe!

Crest White Strips may work, but take longer (and they are not perfectly fit to your teeth - the interproximal areas are a bit forgotten).

The dental whitening you get from the office, regardless if it is chairside, or take home, they work faster and are prescribed by the dentist. Initial cost is more, but your dentist knows you, your medical/dental history and also keeps your tooth shade logged (before and after)

If you need a quick fix - then the 1hour chairside is great - but too many people go in with expectations far too high.

My advice is to go to your dental office and make the trays. Like I said, you pay more at the beginning, but the trays will always be with you - and the cost to buy the 'replacement' whitening gels is pretty much comparable in price to what you buy in the drug store - and remember the results come far quicker.

Food/drinks to avoid if you do not want stain - coffee/colas, red wine, even red meat, tomato sauce, blueberries, beets etc etc... Brush and floss each day 2 to 3 times is great - if you love coffee/tea so much, then do what the models do - use a straw!

Hope I helped a bit.

Coffee and colas can stain teeth a great deal. Don't drink them. If you're not happy with the color of your teeth, try using the Crest Whitestrips. They are fairly inexpensive and give good results.

Coffe, Tea, and dark colored soda (carmel coloring) are to blame. Also Cigarettes will stain your teeth. Get some whitening stuff from the drug store.

I work in a dentist office and the rule of thumb i use is.... If you wouldnt spill it on your favorite white shirt then its not helping you keep a bright white smile.
