I am thinking getting the hot stone massage for my next massage...has anyone had any good (or bad) experinces with this? Is it worth my money? Also, I'm starting massage therapy school in a few weeks....it is worth it to learn the hot stone method?

I had the hot stone massage and it was wonderful. I loved it when they put the little stones between my toes. They used cold stones on my face. I would definitely recommend the hot stone massage. I don't like a regular massage because I haven't found a therapist that applies the right pressure. They either apply too much or too little so the stone massage is for me. I would definitely learn this technique if I were you. It gives people other options to choose from.

The premise behind hot stone massage therapy is that the direct heat of the stones relaxes muscles, allowing the therapist access to their deeper muscle layers.

Different massage styles work differently for each person depending on their needs and preferences. Hot stone massage is a pretty superficial treatment because you don't address the deep tissue besides heating the muscles (a hot bath can do the same). It's more of a relaxation style than a therapy style.

It is very worth the money. It is worth taking a class on hot stone method. I've gone to many spas and most have the hot stone massage. They are very comfortable and you will feel great!

I've had deep tissue and stone massages. Prefer the deep tissue, but the stone massage is definitely worth it. Very relaxing.

If the school offers services, make an appointment to get one.

The schools are usually less expensive.
